I love talking about my Stallion (blue '09) to anyone who walks up. It's part of the fun of owning and riding one. Lately, it seems the first question is: How much did you pay? My Mama told me it wasn't polite to ask that sort of question so I am always at a loss of how to respond.

What do you say? Thanks for your creative replies...

I don't have a Stallion but i do have a Tri Glide, And when someone asks how much did it cost, I tell them 32 grand, I worked hard to be able to afford it so I'm not ashamed to tell, It's getting so in this country we are supposed to be ashamed to admit we're successful, Well not me !

I get that question most of the time and my response is, the price of an expensive car. I find that response usually shuts them down. Most people ask the question simply to be nosey. If I feel that someone is serious about purchasing one, then I tell them how much I have invested in the whole project i.e. paint, trailer etc.

I tell them mid $30's ... about the same as triking out a Harley or Goldwing. Someone was looking at several different trikes at a dealers lot yesterday and I had my Stallion parked close by. When I walked up to mine to leave, the guy approached me and asked some serious questions. He was surprised to learn of the price. He said it's a no brainer to go the Stallion route for what you get.

Although I don't mind talking about my Stallion, I've been able to shorten some of the conversations by telling them to go on-line and type in Thoroughbred Motorsports or Stallion and they can read ALL the specs including prices and dealers. I also direct them to Trike Talk.com so they can see what we owners say about our rides.

Stay Safe Out There!

I give the same answer everytime, mid 30's if you want a new one and anywhere from mid 20's up for a used one if you can find one. Most of the time people just want to ask the question just to be asking but when I get guestions from someone that is really interested I give them a card from my dealer or TMS web site.

Way to Go!!!! Hard work pays off.. sitting on your butt does not! ThumbUp

Now back to the Question.

If you are not comfortable tell people how much your toy cost you... Don't!!!

Say I'm not sure it was a gift. Say anything you want. You can even say.. I don't like to talk about the cost! Most if not all people will respect your answer no matter what it is.

A good guy once told me... You'll never impress the people you want to impress and the people who are impress you don't want!

Be yourself! ThumbUp

I don't mind talking money.

This is what I read in college many years ago in a book Titled The Death of Ivan Ilyich by Tolstoy

And while it is set in Russia it makes sense to me... The rich always ask price for a service while the poor never ask price and are happy to get what ever they are allowed.

I grew up in the mid-west with farmers in the family... everyone just would mind their own business and if someone got a shinny new car you just thought hey nice car... But you didn't go ask them what they paid for it.. because they were too busy tell you how much they paid...lol :D

I tell them....it cost about what a honda goldwing trike would cost, only the stallion comes with a/c....their reply? REALLY ?
It's a trike......
