(I also posted this in the Yamaha area by mistake). I believe this area is more appropriate.

As you may have read from my many recent posts, I am getting my 07 Venture Triked.

While in Branson a couple of years ago at a Rib place, I glanced out the window to see a Family with kids admiring my bike and trailer setup. Of course I was a Proud Papa! - That is until I saw the 10ish year old boy starting to climb aboard with his father's assistance!! Well I jumped up to head out the door and they saw me get up and quickly abandon their goal. And yes I 'talked' to them about it. (I made a scene)
Anyways, I am considering getting one of those 'proximity' type alarms that they make for cars with a fob that let's me know AND gives an audible alarm such as 'please step back from this vehicle' or something like that.
I'm sure some will say I am being over protective, but I think it is what I want. This is a HUGE investment for me and I don't want it messed with.

Do any of you have an alarm on your trike?

I haven't had unattended mounting with my Tri-Glide... But when I had a Can-Am spyder it did happen...I guess the spyder looked like a toy to most nimrods??
I don't think your being over protective, I'll say go for it, If you can put up with false alarms that is...
ie.. Some joker setting it off on purpose.

I haven't seen a bike/trike with an alarm but I have seen a few with a sign they laid on the seat that said not to touch the bike/trike. I guess if you don't mind the warning every time you stop then perhaps the alarm is the way to go. I know that every time I stop people come up to look and I would hate to constantly be going to the trike cause someone set the alarm off by getting too close.

I had an alarm on my first Harley, back in about 1981. It was triggered by movement, so someone would have to sit on it and lift it up off the jiffy stand. One day a few friends and I rode about 25 miles south of town to a pub to have a few beers. My alarm went off but when I went outside, no one was around for miles.

One of my friends then said, "if someone was sitting on your bike, what would you do"? Being at about 5' 7" with my boots on, I probably couldn't do much. I disconnected it and never used one again. At 62 now recovering from a heart attack, I couldn't do a thing except politely ask them to get off.

You "made a scene" with a family. Make sure you can make a scene with ANYONE who sits on it.

At a McDonalds cruise night I had a father start to assist his 6 ish son to hop on my trike. I yield to them across the parking lot. The father yelled back he can't tip it over. I said I don't want him on it get off.

I work at a Home Depot in Kansas City. I ride to work, and one day, I saw a couple. She proceeds to mount the trike and assume a provocative pose on it. I ran out and lifted her off the trike and warned them..the absolute rule of Harleys..DO NOT TOUCH unless I give permission. They were very sorry...then I asked if they would like a picture standing NEXT to the trike. They were excited and said yes...then I stole their camera...:Dorag:...not really...I took their picture.
