I have been reading to much..... I would like to install a Hayden primary Chain Tensioner on my 2014 TRIKE has anyone change one? have you notice a difference? I have to change my primary fluid this spring so, this is the best time to do the up grade. I'm having a hard time finding the part number for the gasket for the primary to crankcase gasket any help would be great.

Harley part # 34901-07
I installed one over a year ago and the springs were to strong and wore out the shoe,I contacted hayden and they sent me new springs and a new shoe(free). It works great. they said the first batch was shipped with the wrong springs.

Thanks for the reply, I looked at a few webs sites doesn't seem like that part number comes up are you sure that is a good number for the gasket?

What is your reason for wanting to change the Chain Tensioner?? Have you had trouble with the OEM??

Have the same question as Roger. Why are you going to the trouble of installing a Hayden tensioner. I ran Hayden stuff back in the '90's when Harley had the manual adjust unit but now with the new models they are somewhat like the Hayden. :xzqxz:

There was a "How to..." thread here, that I can't find now, by The Wizard, on how to install a Barnett clutch pack along with the Hayden chain tensioner. I installed both last year and am quite pleased with it. Practically eliminated the big clunk when shifting into first, and makes finding neutral a bit easier. All shifting seems smoother and quieter.

Many reasons, but the most important the Harley self adjusting ratchet type can over tighten, causing bearing, chain wear, or at times not tighten and that is what causes the clunk shifting into first gear, excessive chain noise. The Harley ratchet type doesn't compensate for heat expansion.

Emailed Harley Dealer asking why I couldn't find the HD Part number you gave me on his web site, his reply was, he doesn't ship gaskets through the mail, they always get bent.
