Wanna Find Out How Good Your Oil Is?

I have been doing oil sampling reports for years.

It sure is a great way to know how your internal engine parts are wearing with the current oil in the crankcase. There is a wealth of useful information in an oil analysis report.ThumbUp

YUP, some oils don't stack up

Interesting to see how additive packages are not all equal

Many moons ago, but I still vividly remember my HS Auto Shop teacher preaching to us: Oil is the lifeblood of an engine. It needs to be clean to properly lubricate & cool an engine. Change it often, or you'll be changing engines often!

He also sold Amsoil on the side, (something that sadly, would probably cost him his job in today's PC society).

As a long time & current Amsoil user, Amsoil has also offered testing/analyzing services for as long as I can remember but I've never gone the extra step to get a test done.

When oil starts looking dirty in any of my vehicles, I change it. Synthetics will go considerably longer change intervals than conventional oils in good running healthy engines, thus saving money in the long run over multiple conventional oil changes. Never had an engine fail due to lubrication issues, so Mr. Sobel must have known what he was telling us back in the 70's....

Back in the Army, Over in Europe, for a time I was in charge of the oil sampling for our battalion

Test results from that would sometimes having us changing heads, engines and such

I just dont like the marketing ploys

or Kendal Nitro 70

Alot of folks IMO think outside the box and run synthetic oils longer

I cannot believe HD says 7,500 miles between changes

I dunno about that

When my oil is dark I know the additves are doing the job suspending the dirt and wear

I still change every 3k miles

Peace of mind, with 3 k intervals .When oil becomes 10 dollars a quart I may go longer, I dunno

Also keeping the intake air clean is a must

You may be surprised hom much dirt and sand is in 1CFM of air

Some days I can feel the sand in the air, We R 28 miles inland from the beach

I trust my K N air filter

Some times I over oil it:cool:
