Is there a kit out there that is already welded? I am looking for a bolt together kit with body for a VW engine. I want a seat for the passenger and a useable trunk or storage area.

VW Trike kits

Interesting, but it's a swing axle trike. In my opinion the IRS setup provides a superior ride. If this is your first trike I'd say look for one that uses the IRS rear frame. Even the older Stires / Wilmac trikes can be upgraded to irs with some "minimal" welding that shouldn't cost too much when farmed out to a welding shop. The Left Coast is the birthplace of the VW trike. You should be able to find something great out there just have to be patient.

I have a swing axle trike now and it rides and handles great. Getting ready to start a new trike build in the fall and it will also be a swing axle.

I would suggest contacting some of the VW custom bug shops and businesses in the SoCal area. Surely some of them will know of a trike building specialist in the area.

Another area to check with is some of the third party motorcycle sales businesses. There may be one or more of them that actually have one for sale?

I know 20 or 30 years ago there were probably a ton of the VW trike builders in business, but these days its tough to find any.
