vance & hines - power commander

My dealer recommended the Vance & Hines exhaust sytem with a power commander V fuel manager and the auto tune option.
The Vance & Hines system fits beautifully, only one little problem!
For some reason Vance & Hines installed 12mm openings for the o2 sensors, and the power commander uses an 18mm sensor.
Not sure why they installed 12mm openings, as once you put on the aftermarket header you need to add a fuel manager and the stock 12mm sensors are no longer usable. Why not install 18mm openings and supply bushings for anyone that need 12mm.
Well enough whining!
Has anyone else experienced this problem? I can drill and tap the 12mm openings to 18mm, but the new sensors are a lot larger thean the OEMs, not sure there is enough room between pipe and transmission case on the lower pipe.
Guess I should tell you I am using Vance & Hines Power Dual header.
Any input appreciated.
Thanks

first welcome aboard. You may have to weld 18mm bungees on for the sensors at a location that will clear. Where the V & H listed as fitting the TRI-Glide ot just your year Touring? That might be the difference.

:Agree: He'll have to weld bungs in the position HD installed O2 sensors on 07 - 09 touring if he wants to use the Autotune wideband sensors or switch to a different tuner.

You didn't mention the year of your Tri-Glide. If I remember correctly (and many times I don't :)), the '09 TG sensor holes are 18mm and higher up on the headpipe. The '10 (and '11?) holes are 12mm and close to the headpipe collector.

I eliminated my O2 sensors altogether with my PCV. I didnt get the auto tune though, hoping that is why you are still going to use your sensors.

If the new sensors are wide band sensors and similar to the Thunder-Max sensors they are a LOT longer than stock in addition to thread size. I have Vance & Hines head pipes on my trike and the wide band sensors are about an inch too long and won't fit between the pipe the top of the transmission. I had to send the Thunder-Max back. I thought I had Rinehart pipes but learned they were Vance & Hines when I attempted to install the sensors.
