In all seriousness Ive been eyeballing this 93 flhtci,? i bought and keep looking at the engine bay, mmm, v rod water cooled, mmm, I buy salvage bikes and if i find a v rod at a price, mmm, i may make it happen.

Then again it might be easier to buy a v rod trike it or buy triked, only 2 Harleys Ive never ridden are a v rod and a tri glide.

160hp ? beats what ? 75hp off a stock 96incher like my street-glide. Double the hp, oh yeah and no heat from the infamous 07 08 Harley, never thought i would want a water cooled hawg, but im there and the Rushmore, jus doesn't cut it, heads only.

Any experience, out there ? I googled for a motor swap experience or bike an didn't find what i was looking for, any one with pic or sites. ?

Sweet aint it ? My how the times and the heat change your opinion of riding. Or mine anyway, i might jus trade my softail thats that color scheme off on a v rod. Mmmm, for the pics.

The V-Rod will make a sharp looking Trike, but stock it isn't making 160hp, its in the 110 - 115 hp range. The torque is dismal at around 70 - 75ft/lbs. Stock 96" makes around 65 hp and about the same torque as the V-Rod. On the 96", a decent pipe, mufflers and air cleaner can bump if into the 75hp range and 90 or so ft/lbs of torque.

I'll take big low end torque on a heavy trike any day of the year.

:Agree: 100 percent!! I have a 2013 TriGlide with a modified 120r crate motor, as well as a 2013 V-Rod Muscle, and as much as I like the V-Rod Muscle, I do not think it would be a good application as a Trike do to the exact thing Mike referenced regarding the Torque. Not enough to get the weight moving would be my guess/concern.

I have had several twin cam Harley's and think the V-Rod is the best Harley ever made (just my experienced opinion) and as stated, I have a 120r twin cam as a comparison. I saw one in Daytona a couple of years ago and they really look awesome but as previously stated, I don't think the motor would be a good application for the weight.

I'll post the pic. again

Well here is the low torque VRod not as much class as old shiney just sayin!!!! I just cannot warm up to the VRod's maybe because I have very little knowledge of the design. It would make an interesting project to get the torque up to handle the extra weight then you would have a interesting Harley Trike. fearless

V-Rod bagger trike......

Interesting thoughts on the LOW torque situation...

I was really suprised when I first read about this Motor with HI hp and LOW torque. Hhhmmm...

Makes sense tho....for a drag bike.
Basically that's what it is.... :)

Can probably cam and gear it to have better bottom end performance.....AND big bore kit...!

I cannot stop thinking about that triked V-Rod with
fairing and tour pac! Too kool.....

I'm gonna work up a bill of materials for parts and make a price sheet to find the cost of this little conversion. Gonna be $$$$.….

I found some kits the other day for mounting the Road Glide fairing to a V-Rod......

http://www.cyclevisions.com/index.p.../road-rod-fairing-mount-kit-black-cv6001.html

Mounting the tour pac will probably be a one-off
type bracketry set up....kool...

I'll post what I find...

If you want something to play with why not try a Honda Valkiery or a BMW Rocket 3.

If you want something to play with why not try a Honda Valkyrie or a BMW Rocket 3.

Bud of mine had a 2wheel Valkyrie it would get less gas mileage than his pickup, about 15mpg, on a 2 wheel bike, hahaha, hell i get 12mpg on a Harley super crew Pu and think i should get 15 to 17, but never have.

Theres one local for sale, I saw it on the BTW run to Davis Okla mountains years ago, nice ride, jus have to carry a Jerry can of 5gal or maybe two of them. Hey the trailer can do that for ya.

They sound sweet with a set of cobra pipes, and run a hole in the wind, but lousy fuel mileage for sure.

I owned a 99 Valkyrie Standard and it was a great bike but the gas mileage, when ridden hard, really sucked! Riding 80+mph into a good headwind would drop the fuel mileage into the high 20's. The Standard had a 5.3gal fuel tank and a lot of owners installed the Valkyrie Interstate 7.1gal fuel tank, for better range. Back then, there were aftermarket fuel tanks available with up to 8gal fuel capacity.
Valkyrie 1500 engines had higher-lift cams and six carbs. GW 1500's had fuel injection.
My main concern about a Valk trike would be the lousy gas mileage.

Same experience as Clint44. I had a 1999 Valk Tourer. Was an awesome machine and very comfortable for touring. Had 6 into 6 Cobra pipes and it sounded sweet. BUT, at 80 plus MPH I got 23 MPG. Not good with a 5.3 gallon tank. If I kept it down to less than 3,000 RPMs (about 67 MPH) it would get 30 - 32 MPG. It would pass anything on the road at the time except a gas station.
