TTR-V - Rally In The Valley 2012

By the time your rally rolls around I should be back in NC. But I'll holler when I come through OC to see if you're home. <br />
<br />
Was statioined at Swan Island in the 70's (trained USN Reserves) and lived on an old logging bunkhouse (coverted to a floating 3 apartment building) at Sellwood Bridge. It was kind of neat back in those days. On a hot summer day dive off the top deck into the Williamette. Or go across the bridge and enjoy the amusement park.

We had moved it to the hotel tent since WTT was supposed to be closed but now we have that option open to us. I kinda think we may want to keep it at the hotels since we would be covered if it happened to rain. Whats your thoughts?

I also think we should eliminate the door prize drawings since its getting harder and harder to get prizes donated plus it was also a long process time wise. I want to get back to the basics of a good old meet-n-greet. Thoughts?

Our vote is at WTT and when it comes to door prize drawings limit it to 20 prizes or less.. OHO thanks for all the hard work "STAFF" Charlie D & the IMP.:10:ThumbUp

We're gonna nix the door prize thing and spend more time relaxing after the meal. I like the idea of having the cookout at the hotel as we can just all hang out, have a beverage or two if anyone wants to, take a nap...whatever and not have to drive back to the room afterward. The door prizes were nice but the time visiting and getting to know one another was better and we want more of that.

D'you suppose we could get two or three 'special' awards - best Wing, best HD, best VW, best Stallion, youngest, oldest trikers, farthest, etc. - made? Perhaps somebody who does woodworking would 'volunteer' to make 'em for the price of the wood??? It might make a winter project for somebody who enjoys doing that . . .

Yeah I think we could do that. I think we'll just have them made...we'll check into it.

Well... if everything works to our plan and we have a place to shack up our four legged children... :p

C and I plan to be there. Will bring both bikes via trailer and enjoy the company and rides.

:wave4:

Keep yer digits crossed.

:10:Okay I've registered me & The Warden (Jan), pre-paid for our meal tickets and booked 6 rooms for our group coming down from southern Maryland I hope they all get registered. Looking forward to some good rides and comraderie.:Coffee:

I just signed up for the Microtel Inn. Great rate $80 for any type room. Lady did say that she was moving to release rooms as not many folks have signed up yet. This will be my very first rally with a Trike so should be interesting.

I just spoke by phone with the manager representing both the Best Western and the Microtel. Per our original agreement, all rooms in BOTH motels are to be held for the TrikeTalk Rally group until March 2012. At that point, any un-spoken-for rooms will be made available to the general public, although any of our members will still be given the discounted rate if they call for an available room at that time. The manager assured me this morning that agreement is still in effect, and that he will follow up with the motel staff to clarify that!

However, I would urge anyone planning to attend the rally to call one of the two motels ASAP and hold a room.

It would be disappointing if a number of our group were to end up scattered around town because we delayed and lost the hold on these two large blocks of rooms!!! Although we would hope that no one has to cancel, there is a cancellation policy that will allow that to occur with reasonable notice.

I know I'm sure looking forward to it, had a very enjoyable time last year, met some great people.... Come on June!

Just reading thru here see that the meal and "party" will be at the motel, is that correct? If so whch motel? I know the 2 motels are next door to each other.

Just a thought but wondering how we will get that many bikes/people into such a small area. Many are not staying at these 2 motels.

Thanks Nana, We stayed the BestWestern last year and it seemed plenty full/congested to me thats why I asked.
The meal ,"Main" party is Saturday, correct?

That is correct...... Saturday afternoon, so still time for a ride in the morning :D

Hello NANA My name is Carl we are new members TTR and would like to get to meet new friend. We just reserved a room for the 2012 rally. Was wondering if anyone out Okla way was going to the rally and would like a tag a long on the trip out? We would like to make the D-tail going out or on return. We ride a Yamaha Stratoliner trike. I'm new at this site so if you answer this don't think I'm ignoring you but it may take me a while to figure out how to answer you...Thank You..Carl & Marquetta
The motel arrangements for the 2012 Rally in the Valley have been locked in. Details are below:

  • RALLY DATES: Thursday - Sunday, June 21 - 24, 2012
  • We have an agreement with two adjoining motels -- Best Western and Microtel -- with a total of 107 rooms. • ROOM RATE: $80.00 + tax per night on all rooms (usual weekend rates up to $129.00/night)
  • Motels are held exclusively for us until March 31, 2012 at which time any un-booked rooms will be made available to the general public.
  • Members should phone one of the two motels (numbers and web links below), clearly state that you are with the Trike Rally, and reserve a room in your name, guaranteed with your credit card.

I thought the parking lot last year was on the full side but we will make the best of it. Had a GREAT time last year and really looking forward to the Rally this year. Good times will be had by all.

FYI- I am told that the Best Western is pretty close to, if not completely sold out to our members at this time, but you can call to confirm. The Microtel, which is directly next door is a slightly newer property and appears from the site photos to have larger rooms, and has an indoor heated pool and a meeting room which we will be using. Its starting to book up but there are plenty of rooms left at this time. That will be changing though as we had enough attendees last year to more than fill up the number of rooms of these two properties.

Both of the properties are owned and managed by the same people and both are very nice. You wont go wrong with either one. The Legends Sports Grill is directly next door and was a popular gathering place during the last two rallys. I didnt go, but I hear the food and atmosphere was good and the tales were long and tall. If you plan on attending, please make your reservations at one of these two as soon as possible. You'll have a great time with some fine folks and the rides and scenery are amazing.

Also BE SURE to mention that you are with the TrikeTalk / T.O.I. Rally group to get the discount rate.

It is exciting to see names and locations as more and more are planning on being at the rally!

Be sure to go to the rally web page also and click on REGISTER (find it at this link: http://www.triketalk.com/forum/trike-talk-t-o-i-rally-2012/8433-tt-rally-v-2012-register-online.html).
  • Go to GUEST BOOK to register. There are no fees for the rally, however it helps us enormously with our planning to know about how many are coming, and it sure makes name tags simpler to make them ahead!
  • Sign up and pre-pay for the catered rally picnic. You will shortly receive two meal vouchers in an email from Adventuredothan@hotmail.com. You will need to print these and bring them with you to the rally.

The rally web page Marge made has sure improved and streamlined this process, and she has it all well organized and updates the data regularly. Keep checking in as she will be adding a rally schedule and other planning details as we get closer to the date.
