Our 2006 GW1800 MotorTrike didn't come with a remote transmitter to lock/unlock the rear trunk. I'm just curious if anyone else with a Motortrike has a transmitter that works? If been told that many times trike converters just cut the wires leading to the trunk. I've order a remote and just doing a little research.

I've never heard that one Bill. There is no logical reason for anyone to do such a thing. I personally have worked on many Motor Trike and other brand conversions and have never seen it.

Good luck with the remote transmitter. I don't use them........ :xszpv: :xszpv:

Might be too late for you but this is the same remote that Honda sells for the S2000 at about $90.

It works for my 2010 your bike might be different??

Bill,

The "controls" for the electronic unlock are in the tour pack & the motorcycle, not in the trike portion (or saddlebags of the motorcycle). Motor Trike does not remove or alter the transmitter/functions of the remote in any way (I may be mistaken, but I don't believe that any company does).

I've never heard of a trike builder doing that either. However, the wires going to the radio-wave-receiver/trunk-lock-module, are known to break in the hinge after many years of opening and closing the trunk lid.

FYI ... trunk lock fobs do not come with a trike. Each new owner is provide 1 with the purchase of a GL1800. Unfortunately, it sounds like the fob was not passed onto you with your trike purchase.

It's too late for the Amazon remote which is 8 bux cheaper than the one I purchased from Ebay. I looked on Amazon but I didn't find it for some reason? Thanks for all the comments I'll post my results once I receive the remote and try to train it. I don't know how much I'll use it but I like to have toys, I'm guilty toyz for boyz!

Just maybe a helpful hint when you try to program the remote.

Write out the steps in simple English.

Since the steps are timed. You wont have the time to read them as written.

Come up with shorter simpler steps and it will be done in no time.

This helped my frustration factor 1001%

Use mine all the time.

I use my remote all the time. Sure saves steps when you walk away and the wife says, did you lock the bike cause I left my purse in it. I just reach in my pocket and click the remote and reply, yep.

I'm with you on this one. I use one everyday I drive my car or truck.......don't see any reason not to when riding.

I do the same thing, especially in public for the deterrent effect.

OK, fellow Wingers; The remote I ordered was delivered today. Using directions supplied with the unit I was able to program the remote in about a minute and a half. The remote works well and it will be nice to have a remote when we walk away from the trike and Kathy asks me if the trunk is locked because her purse is in it.
