Has anyone else had this problem if I forget to lock my trunk and take off someone will be honking to let me know my trunk is open.

I asked dealer to see if it could be adjusted, was told it is fine just don't forget to lock it,

well iam sorry but I don't always remember to lock it ,anyone have this problem?

Hope everyone has safe and enjoyable riding season.:xzqxz:

I had the same problem with my 11 T/G when it was new, I had to adjust the plunger so the notch went in deeper, If it isn't in far enough when you hit a bump the trunk will pop open,, Haven't had it open since, And I ''never'' lock the trunk..

Yep, mine did the same. I made the adjustment, you can turn the bolt on the inside. I also make it a point to keep it locked. ThumbUp

yep and I adjusted it and now keep it locked.. be caeful how you close it. i close mine easy and get about 3 inches from closed and then close it. seems not to catch so much air resistance

+1 on the adjustment, and don't forget a bit of light lube (3 in 1 or such, don't use WD40). Never have to lock mine unless I have swag in there now.

Thanks for help everyone I will take your advice and adjust and see if that makes a difference.
Its nice to have a wealth of knowledge to tap into.
Thanks to all :pepper:

Our '09 and '11 both did that. I noticed that the push button didn't always come all the way out after pushing it. Not sure why MB1953 warned against WD40, that is what I used and they never popped open again.

I am a bicyclist as well as a triker. I used a little TriFlow and worked the lock mechanism and haven't had a problem for years.

Some good lube (Not WD40 it will gum up the works) will make a big difference & also adjust if the door has to be pushed so far in as to almost hit the body. It should go even with the body at the door. Never slam the door, always just push to latch.
I also keep a bungy around the catch cables to pull them together like a spring. If the latch comes open the door will mostly stay up in place. I put it hooked on one cable, then around the 2nd cable & back to the first.

Bungy cord around cables. Brilliant. Wish I had thought of it. No matter how many adjustments, mine flies open at random potholes. Or when trunk overstuffed. I always lock it.

I've never locked mine and I haven't had this problem - YET. Maybe I should start locking mine just to be safe.

If its not adjusted right locking won't help, In my case the barrel wasn't going in far enough to completely engage the spring loaded paw/catch so it wouldn't pop up . To use a gun turn, It would stay Half cocked.

2014 ... Had it adjusted (1.050" base to tip) and lubed once at the Dealer. You could see that the locking disk came down very slowly once the button was released. I now use B'laster PTFE spray a few times each year. It's a dry lube. No issues anymore. I just push very gently to close until it clicks. I only lock it when needed .... otherwise I run it unlocked most of the time.

FWIW there are 4 pages in the manual devoted to the trunk locking mechanism .... and it takes a valve spring compressor and H-D adapter to remove the plunger / barrel lock.

My '09 TG trunk lid popped open all the time...locked or not. Finally after the 3rd try with new rubber gaskets around the lid opening and a new tumbler, did it stop from flying open. The '13 no problems and I don't lock it either!!!

I had that problem on my 2011 & used a bungie until it was fixed. Even with adjustment it would not stay shut. The bar in the mechanism had been worn down. It was replaced under warranty, then adjusted properly, and with occasionly lube never had that problem again.

Having to lock it everytime is only a bandaid for something that is worn or needs to be adjusted, or both.

Mine comes open, locked or not, usually when I have something putting pressure on it. make sure nothing touches the lid.

triglide rear suspention

Can anyone let me know what would be the best rear suspention for my triglide, very rough ride and bottoms out?

On mine I have the Bolt-On Air Ride System along with Comfort Lifts.

With these two Mary and I have a very comfortable ride, whether two-up and loaded down or one-up with no load, and we've traveled some rough roads. :)
