Good Morning All,

Quick question for everyone. Yesterday I went out on a 240 mile ride, during the ride my trunk popped opened up twice. I closed the trunk and pulled on the door and it seemed to be closed, 34 miles later it popped open. Anyone else have a problem with the trunk latch??

I sprayed WD40 on it this morning, to see if it will solve the problem, but not sure that will work. Gonna head out on a 150 mile run today, so I will see if the WD40 helps.

Thanks for any input.

Enoy, ride safe!!!!

I have not had this problem with my 2011 TriGlide. I have heard people having this problem with 09s and 10s. I do make sure that the truck door is slammed shut and that the catch is engaged before I ride.

did you spray the latch push button with lube? I know on my 2010 the button was sticking causing it to open all the time..

Update!

Last night I sprayed the latch and button, just finished 170 mile ride and it did not open at all. So, looks like the WD40 did the trick, but I am still gonna look at it this week to see if the inside cover over the latch is part of the problem. Gets very hot in the trunk and maybe that plastic cover warped a bit.

Thanks for the replies :)

Enjoy, ride safe!!

I have had this happen a couple of times on my 2011 Tri Glide. That little white plastic piece at times does not hold. I have gotten in the habit of locking the trunk and have not had it pop open when locked.

My '09 trunk seal replaced twice....now ever so often the trunk pops open even when locked. Are you all spray the outside lock button or inside mechanism? My trunk lid looks like its bowed out on left side...couldn't be from filling it full of stuff, could it?

The trunk latch on my '11 fell completely out. Dealer had to order a new one and they taped it up with black electricians tape till it arrived.. Took the tech an hour to put the stupid thing in. I always keep it locked on the road. I also lubed it up. No problems now and it feels very solid. Have 'em put in a new one!
