Trucklite Phase 7 Headlight and Passing Lights Installed

Been wanting to install LEDs for quite some time, but thought the HD LEDs were too expensive. The Trucklite Phase 6 was nearly half the price, but I neither liked the way the look nor the way they performed compared to the HD brand. There is a comparison thread over on the HD forum in the Touring section where a couple folks have tested stock halogens, TL Phase 6 and HD brands side-by-side. It's in PDF format and has a ton of pictures. Then they recently compared the TL Phase 6, HD brand and the TL Phase 7 in a more recent document. Reading the latest comparison was what helped sell me. I already knew that our stock halogens compared to ANY of the LEDs were severely lacking. So when I saw that Trucklite made some significant design changes AND performance improvements, while keeping costs way below what the HD brand costs, I decided to pull the trigger on the new design Trucklite.

I am definitely not disappointed. These things are like driving in a several hundred feet of daylight compared to stock. They look great and perform just like the HD brand. The TL headlight sticks out about an inch further than the stock headlight. The TL passing lights fit inside the stock trim rings very nicely. I went back up to my dealer and bought a set of trim rings. While I was there I got the matching passing light rings, but honestly didn't absolutely have to have them. P/Ns 69627-99 and 69622-99B. The extra length of the frenched look hides the bigger headlight superbly and is a "must have."

I have to caution anyone buying TL phase 7's. Be VERY CAREFUL not to order the phase 6 by accident. The best way to tell the difference in a picture if provided is the phase 6 has 6 small LEDs on the headlight and a cluster of small LEDs on the passing lights. The phase 7, has a reflector/director system and no visible LEDs as can be seen by the attached pix. As far as I know, only Kuryakyn sells the phase 7 headlight and passing lights.

Here's some pix. I'll also attach a couple with the lights on.

One picture with dim/passing and the other with bright/passing. I recently got the plug mod that allows passing lights to remain on with the brights.

Hey Bobs..Looks like they work and look great. You and I are kinda on the same wavelength. Last week I installed the HD LED's with the blackout interior lens instead of the chrome. Did the passing lites too. And the front fender running light. Every light on my bike is LED now. They sure turn night into day alright. And I like how cars can see me coming from 3 miles away.

Hey Trent, where did you get the fender tip LED? We are definitely on the same page. I also want to go LED.

My dealer had it...... Part # 59338-09.....It was only $23.95. Has the smoked lense to match my tail lites and tourpac lites..It is not very bright though..but you can see it well from the side. The stock orange lite did not look right with the new LED lites at all. Had to do it!!

I ordered, recieved, and installed the 40 LED fender tip light that triglide1 turned me on to above. It works great and in my garage it is so unbeilivably bright it almost hurts my eyes! The soldering on the plug in part was a little thick and it would not fit into the socket. Just used a small file and smoothed it down a little, snapped right in and fit perfect. It is really superior to the piece of crap single bulb that was in there. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Ride Time Technology - 40 LED EXTRA BRIGHT AMBER FRONT FENDER TIP LIGHT

Thanks for the heads up TG1!!!!!!!!

I just checked out the Ride Time web site. Looks like I could drop a paycheck there with all the goodies they have. Raman noodles for the next week I guess. :)

+1 on that:D That site scares me.

Ha ha!!! Yeah they have a lotta really cool functional stuff. Just when I think I am finally finished addin' stuff I have to run across a site like that. Get out the plastic!!

I had a harder time getting my LED Fender tip light to go in. I even called Ride Time and he was amazed that I could not get that board in the plug. I filed and filed on that soldering and it still was a bugger to get in. But I did it and it works, maybe should carry my old bulb for a while just in case!

I have my old bulb sittin' on the shelf in case of need... but after I files the new one down, it snapped right in very solidly and I dont think it is going anywhere. Sure is brighter huh?

I got it at the dealer. P/N 69200441.

Saves you from having to splice and/or move wires.

Installed this modual a couple months ago and tell ya 2 things.

1) go'ta have little bitty hands

2) the photo in the instructions are a little mis-leading. The plug isn't on the left side of the fairing (facing the bike). It's more under the radio, thus the little bitty hands.
