Hope you have a good time in Jackson Hole. Great place to visit! I believe someone else mentioned going to the Silver Dollar Saloon and having an elk burger there. Last time we were there about three years ago we stopped at the Silver Dollar and had an elk steak. My daughters both live in Nampa, ID just to the west of Boise and they have had bad air quality for over a week now due to the fires up north. You may want to head up the road toward Yellowstone and take in Jackson Lake. Toward the north end are some beautiful views of the lake with the Tetons in the background is your reward.
Have a great trip!
Safe travels on the ride home Mike.
There are over 40 seperate wildfires burning here in Idaho. The Trinity fire, up by Stanley has burned over 50,000 acres and is prob the main reason for the smoke in Jackson Hole. They cannot get it under control, less than 5% as of today,,and are going to just let it burn until the rain or snow puts it out sometime in October, they figure.
Yesterday the visibility here in Boise was less than 1 mile from all the smoke...I know that from driving on the freeway and not being able to see the overpasses that are exactly 1 mile apart on I-84.
Smoke not so bad today...actually saw some blue sky a couple of times.
When we went on our California trip last month, we went thru the Jordan Valley in Oregon and Nevada where they had a 1 million acre fire the week before. It was like driving thru the apocalypse. Black ground as far as you could see for 30 miles in every direction both sides of the road, and over every mountain range for about 75 miles. Fence posts and power poles still smouldering and smoking. Crews replacing thousands of power poles that were destroyed. It was an amazing and sad sight to see that destruction.
Glad you had a good and safe trip Msocko..we are headed over to Yellowstone in 3 weeks...will be a lot colder than when you were there!..It is getting down to 30 at night there now...coldest spot in the nation the other night...
