Got back from Rolling Thunder and the BRP and brought my bike in last week for the 15K service and a few knocks and rattles. Turns out my trans, primary, rear brakes and some other things are shot.

They told me all the parts are in stock and ordered them under something called " bike down priority" and will be at the dealer by this Wednesday. I am leaving for the HOG rally in Ontario Canada next Wednesday.......I hope.
Service manager said he's never seen this much damage/problems before.

Looking for alternatives like rental (expensive even with the AMA's EagleRider discount of $75/day) - loaner(yea right) or just not go (most likely) if the TG isn't done in time. The parts manager at my dealer said I can barrow his since he had a woman run into the back of him a few months ago and can't ride yet. His Ultra has been repaired though.

Keeping fingers crossed they'll get it done early enough for me to do a shake down ride before leaving. It will be cutting it close. :gah:

Do I understand that this is all with only about 15,000 miles on the trike? What in the world would have caused this? Surely it is all under warranty! I hate to hear things like this.

Yes - still under warranty - not even 2 years old. I also have the 7 year ESP
Shop manager doesn't know why either.

I'll bet the bearing on the output shaft of the tranny went out to lunch, the auto chain tensioner is murder on them at times. It seems its a mixed bag, some run along on the tight side and then some get way too tight which puts stress on both the trans out put shaft bearing and also the left crank shaft bearing. I really wish Harley would dump their auto tensioner and go back to the manual one which worked so well for so many years.

Either that Mike, or install the Hayden like I did what an amazing difference.

The Hayden is a good choice if you want to improve what HD screwed up. I love the primary on my 06, its a snap to check the tension and adjust if needed.
