I've been waiting for my 2015 Triglide for over 2 months now. Every time we get close to the supposed delivery date, the dealer pushes it back again.

Just talked to another dealer close by, and he says that trikes are being held - none shipping. But he didn't know (or tell me) why.

Anybody know anything about this?

I neeeed my new trike!

Harley Joe -just for an FYI I was at Sacramento HD earlier this week and they had 2 Tri's (1 black) and 1Freewheeler.......another dealer locally had a couple - appears to be no shortage here in Ca.

Sales strategy ; Harley lost a little market share this quarter, And their policy is not to cut prices, So they slowed delivery's; They have done this before over the years. and it always worked well for them.. That's one of the reasons used Harleys' Sell for more than most used brands.. Polaris [Victory] discounts new bikes, And that in turn devalues New and used Victory's..

We waited for 6 weeks to get the new Tri, we ordered on April 19th and just picked it up last Friday, May 1st. My shipping date was moved back a couple of times.

Hope you get your trike soon. I am buying my first trike as soon as 2016's are available. Dealer says they will be same bike but since this is my first one I want the newest model. Dealer either can't or won't give me a date for 2016 release. There are a lot of used late model trikes for sale, so the Rushmore edition must be a great improvement. Anxious, but am going to wait on the 2016.

That might be a good strategy for trikes with a near monopoly but that will kill them with bikes. Too many good bikes now to be playing silly games. If Indian ever offers a trike they won't be able to play that game anymore. I know 2 Harley riders that went Spyder just because of games like that. I just don't think they are playing games though. I think they have a real quality issue that is biting them hard right now. Maybe that should be safety issue.

:Agree: and one of the forum sponsors does have a conversion kit for the indian..

Jeannette and I toured the Harley factory at York, PA this week. They only have one assembly line there that makes various models. There were plenty of Tri's in the mix. Some dealers are getting them.

Thought about one(some)posts here and related them to my years of being employed by GM and traveling to all assembly plants around the world.
First, GM is certainly not HD but, I sure production plans run along the same lines.
I can almost be sure neither of these companies purposely restrict normal model production, while restriction of limited/special models does and should occur.
The more popular a model is the more units are scheduled but, there is only so much capacity for any given plant and only so many hours in a day.
Also, the bigger the dealer, in terms of units sold, the more priority given for "ordered" units.
I can remember in the late 90's, there was waits as long as 18months on certain HD's. Units that were not pre-sold where gone as soon as they were rolled onto the show room floor. I'm betting HD would have loved to have double or triple the production capacity back then!!!!!!
Which brings up a good question. Have many shifts per day is HD working and do they work any over time on the week-ends????

I remember back I another life, I had a customer who sold 25 thousand+ dollar wrist watches.. This was in 73 during the oil embargos.. And one of the New oil millionaires
Daughter was getting married, So he needed 8 of them for gifts for the groomsmen. He could have sent all 8 out in one shot, But when he ordered them from the Watch Co.
They said, ''Don't'' send them all out , Only send a few at a time and with the last shipment send them to arrive as close to the wedding date as possible.. He was also told that these are expensive/exclusive pieces of jewelry and we don't want customers to think they're easy to get and not worth the price, And if you do send them all out 'we might pull your franchise to sell them''

Discussed this with my wife, and to our recollection Harley factory at York, PA runs two 10-hour shifts per day, Monday thru Thursday. They are closed on Friday thru Sunday. Believe they have 1,100 employees at this site. Schedule is most likely this way to allow preparation for the next week's production. Many sources of materials must come together to produce a mix of bikes and trikes on a single assembly line with minimal interruptions.

I would rather have my Hannigan Transformer conversion than a tri glide. I have independent suspension, larger trunk and a GREAT looking trike that is not like all the others. I would rather have my gear reverse than the troublesome electric one. As far as taxes, mine is registered as a regular bike, this keeps the taxes down. The trike kit is insured as add on options and that does not depreciate. I looked the tri over and decided on the conversion and am glad I did. After getting the kit it should take 3 days or less to convert. The only thing I would change on mine is the installer. Look into convert real close it might be your answer especially if you have a bike you know is in good condition and you like. Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks for the info.

I'm w/you on the Hannigan conversion. The only issue here is warranty. One may lose coverage on certain bike part of the trike failures. Might even have some dealer's that refuse to work on a non-factory conversion.

That's why they make Fords and Chevys and Harleys and other brands. As far as your trike not depreciating because the conversion is an add on......almost nothing that you buy does not depreciate as you use it. I had rather have my trike that is designed from ground up to be a trike rather than something repurposed from something else but that's just me. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine. oh yeah, I think my bike is Really Great looking. And don't kid yourself, if you have a conversion trike, there are others just like it as well. I don't think they throw away the mold or quit using a customer once they build one.

Can't we all get along without bashing each others rides????

My niece is a tech at a dealership. The owner has 3 HD shops. She told me they get a few trikes in at her place. The other place, the main dealership, gets trikes all the time. The third dealership hardly gets any at all and she doesn't know why there is a discrepancy. She said the trikes they do get are gone as soon as they get them. She said the used trikes they get go fast to. I believe the demand for trikes is on the rise and HD doesn't have the capacity to keep up with the trike demand and still meet their 2 wheeled needs. I'd guess this is temporary and somewhere down the line, a trike order will be fulfilled as quickly as a 2 wheel order. She also told me that the trike customers are firmly planted with 3 wheels and they don't see many of them going back to 2. She said that those that make the switch all say they should have done it sooner.
