My 2007 Ultra, recently purchased, will only start if the bike is in gear. Trike part is a Motortrike, it runs great. Being as I'm not very mechanical, is there something I can adjust to make it start in neutral or is this a take it back to the dealer!

check your neutral switch connection at the transmission..or the switch..

It will only start when you pull in the clutch correct??

Thanks for the info... probably better let this for the dealer as I have no idea where the neutral switch is. Huel

If you look behind the rear cylinder then behind the transmission top cover you will see 2 wires that plug into the neutral switch. The plugs just pull off and then you will use the appropriate sized wrench or socket to remove it.

The part # from my 2008 book is 33926-06B for the switch and the part # for the O ring # 11290

Should be no more than $20 with tax

when you install the new "O" ring lightly butter lube in permatex non-hardening sealant. then you won't have to worry about any leaks.
do you have a buddy you sometimes ride with that will help you out?

I would recommend testing the switch before replacing it. If it were me, and i replaced the switch only to have the same issue, I'd be pretty annoyed. You can test it with a multimeter. It's a fairly basic ground switch; in one position there is continuity between the contacts, in the other position there is not. Taking the 5 minutes to check it first is well worth the time.

Once I found the switch, noticed someone had extended the wiring going to both connectors. The tape was loose on one so I put new tape on and used a tie rap so it wouldn't come off again. Put the connectors back on and just decided to try it. Started it in neutral several times today and its working. Sure appreciate the help... Huel
