Trike body Identification

Hello folks, Im new to this forum, been riding trikes for a few years, bikes for a few decades LOL

I have a homebuilt VW turbo trike . I obtained the body from ebay, actually the frame as well but that was scrap so all I really used was the body. Rebuilt/built everything else myself.

I will try to upload a photo. Its a rather unique body & Im wondering if anyone can identify it as being mass produced by a builder or is it a one -off . It has integral fenders but the big difference is the motorcycle fuel tank incorporated into the fibreglass body. IF I can get a photo loaded, any ID help would be appreciated.

Interesting question but probably impossible to answer. After Ed Roth built his first trike and Bruce Meyers built his first fiberglass dune buggy, clones popped up everywhere. A lot of these clones were popped off of existing bodies from other builders and altered enough to keep the builder from getting sued for copyright infringement. Most of these clone builders were smaller operations so "mass produced" might equal only 10-20 bodies. "One-off", maybe. I've seen the rear profile on several different bodies over the years but I've never seen a tank profile like yours before.

You say you got it off eBay. Did it come from Canada or the States? Did the previous owner have any idea of the trikes history. Sometimes location information can help identify the mfg.

I am fresh to this site, so glad I was given a link to it. I have owned my trike for 3 years now, still trying to get road ready, I mean going down the road for a long ride.

The body design you have, looks so much like mine. From what I found out this one I own was called the "Stinger" body design from a trike maker out of AZ, Phoenix I believe, but they closed up years ago and I was given old links to it, now I can not find it at all. What mind does is continue past your tank, wraps up over the front steering, let me get a picture for you, if I can post it.

No help on the Id of body. I never have used a body.

The back half looks similar to production models.

Maybe someone customized the body. Easy enough to do with Fiberglass. Sculpted in a gas tank shape because they liked the look.

In the end it don't matter. It is not like you are going to get parts or anything.

It is cool whatever it is. Just enjoy it.

Now back to...."turbo"....

Now understand that is fiberglass gas tank did not last with the new fuel, so where he dash panel is, it had bugled outward and the filler cap was in the center of it. I removed it, filling in the area with new glass, cut the bulge away so I had a area for the instruments that I wanted on the trike. Like it was said, just add some slight changes here and there and you have your own trike body. Reading this, I guess what I did just made my body one of a kind. The idea I have is to put the gas tank down between my legs up inside the bottom of the fiberglass body. If one looks close at the picture they can see the pink Styrofoam model tank I made. First I need to level the rear end, jack up the front end and find the proper length forks for the trike, get that work done and a set of new handle bars, than I will be able to find the exact size of tank to make for it. That and I want to change the current exhaust system to single pipes on each side.

There are many fuel cells for racing $150 or less. I’m sure you can find a size to fit.

Yes, this is true, but not what I wanted, but it is what I had to do if I wanted to run around and road test the trike more. Will start a thread about the trike, fuel tank, drawings, moc up, and hopefully I will get help and input about how off I am.
