I'm looking for shocks that are NOT air adjustable for a 09 TriGlide. I've read about Ohlins and JRI shocks but never seen an application for trikes. Not in love with the constant checking air in shocks with every upcoming ride. Surely someone out there makes a shock that you set and forget when every ride is 98% two up.

Thanks for any input!

i installed progressive heavy duty black 444s. i preloaded them with 3 complete turns mounted them upside down. says you can gives access to the pre loader. they are the standard 13 inches long. have ridden over 5k miles and love them

Progressive shocks are a good pic! Have the air shocks on mine but if anything happens to these (on Mich. roads) I will be going to Spring loads 444.

Re: TriGlide shocks Thankd guys. No install quirks with the upside down install? Did

Thanks guys. No install quirks with the upside down install? Did you preload the 3 turns before or after install? Amazon has a decent price on these shocks at the moment. Again, thanks for the info.

Right in the instructions that upside down was a okay. I pre-loaded them before install. I had a set of Oliens (sp) on my previous trike and that is what they recommended on theirs. So I just used the same % preload. I'm on my way home from a 5,500 mile trip all ready 4,600 completed. Been in most of the northern states with their rough roads.

Very happy with the ride. No issues on the install.

Sounds good, do you know the part number? I have been looking on Amazon also, just want to double check.

Are these the ones Progressive Suspension 444-4020B Black 13" Heavy Duty Big Mile Riders Rear Suspension Shock

thanks

Also Gorilla were you riding two up? I'm checking cause we ride two up 90% of the time. 3 turns for the preload should do the trick? Is that for just you or two up?

thanks again,

diesel

Yes the shocks are 444.4020B. I weigh 220 lbs and I usually have the trunk and tour pack fairly full. I do not normally ride 2 up. You might want to start out with another turn on the pre-load. There are 8 turns available.

Thanks a lot Ted....that info is really helpful...So did you have the stock shocks when you went with progressive's 444? Reason I'm asking is that I have the Progressive 416's in there now and I was just wondering if the 444's were that much better? Just asking.

diesel I installed the Progressive 444's upside down on my 2013 TriGlide as well and completely removed my OEM air ride shocks system for the rear. So far, so good!! However as an FYI, I had occasion to speak with Progressive directly due to my purchase of their Monotube Fork Tube kit that I am going to install in my Trike, and they were quite surprised that I had installed the 444's upside down on the rear of the Trike. They made it abundantly clear they did not suggest or support such an application for the 444's and made sure I was aware that I was on my own regarding this application - i.e. pre-load amount, warranty, etc..

This is meant to only be an FYI, as I am currently happy with the installation at this point. I as well set my pre-load to three turns prior to installing.

I weigh 165 lbs and the wife is at 138 lbs and with my rear tires set at 23 lbs and my HD air seat, we both like the way it is riding.

Good luck with you decision making process!!
