Triglide intercom headphones

Hi all, we just bought a 2009 Triglide a couples of weeks ago and are still learning about all the possibilities. I would like to hear what intercom, radio, headsets everyone uses. Thks

I use HD's and find them adequate. One set comes with the TG so I just had to purchase another one for my honey.

I now use the J&M Audio headset/boom mic. Far better quality than MoCo's.

I appreciate the info, we just got home few minutes ago after about 3 hundred miles for a KIA PGR mission. Ill has been hit pretty hard with KIA's the last 2 weeks. Well thks again. Chuck

Patty and I both wear half helmets all summer. We use the HD half helmet headsets and love them. Well...except when the temps are in the 90s and we don't use any. In winter, with 3/4 helmets, we use the standard helmet headsets. (we're both claustrophobic...neither of us can tolerate full face helmets)

Question: The HD headset for 1/2 or 3/4 helmets? I installed mine on a 3/4 helmet before leaving for Cody, WY....haven't figured out how to use the CB radio yet...so pretended I was talking (lol).

Anyway, halfway down the road the plug fell out from the helmet and dangling on my left leg...happened several times. Unplugged from the tank and stuck end in pocket of jacket...oops, there goes the plug flying thru the air! Caught just in time. Talked to an UC rider who said, yeah, they all fall out...get electrical tape. Dealer says no, never heard of plug falling off....if continues, bring the headset back and will replace it. I'm thinking because the cord has to really stretch to the plug on tank, then of course the plug on helmet will fall out....there's no clamp to hold the plug.

The cord is supposed to unplug relatively easy so it doesn't yank your head off if you & bike/trike part ways. It IS an annoyance though. J&M has a plug in the cord about 8 - 10" from the helmet for this reason. Works better, 'cept with the angle their cord comes off the helmet I get it caught on my jackets all the time. J&M have the best sounding & are considerably louder than HD's. With my hearing I need all the volume I can get. I ended up transplanting the J&M speakers onto the HD headset & tweaking the plug just a bit so it doesn't come unplugged quite so easily.

I attached my cord to the helmet by using a very small electical tie-wrap on the cord next to the end through which I looped a large size electrical tie-wrap to loop over the hemet connection. This holds the cord in place and prevents it from being inadvertently pulled out. Be careful with the end that connects to the bike try to keep it from flopppng around (I usually tuck it into my shirt or jacket thus) prevnting chipping the paint while getting on or off the trike. My wife and I have been experimenting with the VOX and it apparently takes a lot of trial & error & patience. Read the owners manual until you go crazy and then you push the right button and wah-lah. This is great except I can't remember which button it was?

Interesting! 2 Ultra, 1 Wing, no cord problems!
Just got a new J&M Elite hdst for wife's new helmet. Now has a small "strap" that holds the cord when plugged into the helmet.
The end that plugs into the bike is so tight, it's hard to get it fully engaged!

I use the head sets that is given with the purchase of a new tour bike. They fit nice on a 3/4 helmet. I adapted mine for a 1/2 helmet. It works but just barely. I also bought one of those headsets that fit over the ear and raps around the back of your head. It's made for a 1/2 helmet configuration. There made of hard plastic. After about an hour of riding they start to hurt something fearce. When I get my new 2011 Tri-Glide I'll get a chance to try out the newer style. Just have to wait and see. Jerry

Jerry, I used to have the same problem, but found that clipping the cord to my jacket collar or t-shirt neck solved it. It was the weight of the cord pulling the frame down on my ears that created the irritation and without the cord pulling on it the headset was very comfortable.

J&M have a better sound quality than the factory HD stuff.
I also use a wire tie for keeping the MOCO plug where it should be.
Haven't tried the half haelemt/no helmet headsets...I would like them if the work..
