My tail of woe:

I have a 2010 HD Tri-Glide, just turned it to 15,000 miles today. If I ride at about 2-5 MPH and let go of the bars, the whole front end shakes. Went to HD today and they say the part is about $550.00, but I should check to see if mine is adjustable. There is a screw at one end.. Sure enough it's one of those damn star types. Anyway, I found a driver that fit, turned it one whole rotation and.............SNAP............... I broke the DAMN Damper.

Two questions.........
1. is this still rideable for now?
2. is there a part or place I can find an aftermarket that don't cost $500?

any other ideas? :AGGHH:

thanks in advance.

You should still be able to ride it. A lot out there with no damper on them take it you are not under warrenty. Can't help you with buying I would check ebay and the internet. Good Luck

In the manual there is an address of a company that will rebuild it for you. Never had one done, but surely it is less expensive than a new one from HD.

Kevin

ouch i believe they are out there somewhat cheaper than that
Zook will fix you up with a hole new set of trees for not much more

You can also go to Pingle and get one for a drag bike that is fully adjustable. And it's a LOT less than $500!

Does your head shake at low speed go away without the damper? If not I'd be checking those head bearings / torque of head nut .... and also front brake drag left/right.

??? Are all HD dampers adjustable?

Don't know, have not removed it and tried what it's like without. Should try that this weekend.
Mine is not adjustable. Thought it was..that's how I broke the screw.

Yes you can ride it and never put that thing back on. I’ve built trike and never used dampers. It may share a little now and then but doesn’t hurt anything. GO RIDE 😂
