Tri Glide reverse motor part numbers.

I have a buddy that buys old stock inventory and take off parts from Harley dealers. In his last purchase were two HD reverse motors one is part # 83388-09 and one is 83388-09B. According to a local HD shop HD has had two upgrades to them 09A and 09B. Now he cant say for sure but his guess is that the outside is the same its just internal changes that were made.Also the rebuild kit that HD has isn't in their computer for sale to the general public. He told me i could have them if i wanted them they are used and need rebuilt so i think i will grab them,there is a local guy who rebuilt a HD starter for me,gonna take them to him and see if he can fix them. Oh and by the way he said he may have a 2019 trike body that is a warranty take off and if so i will get it and make a trailer out of it.

Steve, my understanding on the reverse motors is,

The original part number ( before prefix A or B) was replaced in house by HD under warranty

It became too costly for the MOCO, so they came out with motors A and B, an improvement but NOT the best yet

However they can be rebuilt in house by their techs

If you can get those motors I would jump on it

There are parts out there for these units

Picked them up a few hours ago still waiting to hear about that trike body. Apparently they were installing a set of the saddle bags on the body and when they removed the template the clear pealed up. I installed a set on a friends trike but i put masking tape down first to help keep the clear in place.

check on e-bay for a rebuild kit, from the few I have seen the brushes are probably just stuck give them a good cleaning.

This company in Canton, Ohio rebuilds them they had a special going on at the end of last year for $259.00 not sure if that is still the price.

Thanks if my local guy cant rebuild them i will contact theses folks.
