Has anyone tried a different set of gauge faces on their trike? It may be me, but I was wanting something easier to read at a glance besides the OE black ones. Looking on the net, I found several different companies that offer them. Harley Gauges, in CA., wants the gauges sent to them for them to install.

It could just be my old tired eyes. I changed the black faces to white on my Jeep Wrangler. It sure did help.

My SM tried a set of white face on my 16 thinking they would work. They did not ,so got back to black..

Wasn't speaking out with any certainty on that. .Was more a question. Just sort of recall hearing or reading that somewhere....but you know how that goes:xzqxz::Shrug:

I'm getting a new speedometer assembly installed on my FW in a few days, under warranty & the dealer programs the nwe unit with your current milage. It's an easy job for them.

From what I have been told is the ECM holds the speedo info, but it takes the HD digital tech scan tool to pull the info and transfer it

That pretty much takes the after market out of the loop as far as transferring this data

I know of 1 person that changed his speedo/ tach combo with a HD unit from E Bay, the only down side was when his 96 inch engine blew up the dealer would not cover the warranty because the mileage log in the ECM did not match the speedo

I dunno, I know this guy never paid the dealer to have it done

I do know once his engine got rebuilt he sold the bike:p

I was suspect of the speedo he got from E Bay, it lokked like a cheap HD clone.

One other thing I remember about that speedo is it stayed back lit all the time, even with the bike shut off

Nope, alot of the 96 Twin Cams had way too much crank run out

Bad Ju Ju

My 07 Streetbob blew up also The HD factory rep said he had never seen that much run out :p Mine still ran tho the cam support plate and oil pump were cracked

The inside of the barrels looked like they had been sand blasted

When & if I decide, I'll send in original gauges. They will change out the faces & send originals back.

Thanks Guys!ThumbUp....This is definitely good info for me to keep in mind too.....should I ever decide to do something about those little streaks in my speedometer.

Dealer changed all gauges under warranty ,for those little streaks. Thats when he tried to go to the white face for me. Problem was, the "R" would not light up when in reverse. They tried everything & finally had to go with the stock black again. They come in a complete set even if only one gauge needs replaced.

My fault, since I stayed on the fence too long last summer, thinking should I or shouldn't bring it to the dealers attention.....well, the Warranty Ship sailed in the fall cementing that possibility. The little streaks are only visible when the light hits the speedo at a certain angle. I think about them then and when I'm on here, and read about it.

I didn't see anything for trikes. Got to have the backup light and the temp light on the new trikes.
I spoke with Frank with Harley Gauges. They do the switch on Tri Glides also. You just send in the gauges to him & it takes him a couple of days to switch out faces & he sends them back. He quoted me something like $475 for the set and led back lighting.
