Traveled this Week. Improvements Needed

2013 TriGlide factory stock. I put a little over 800 miles on it the last 3 days. Actually it never moved on day 2 as I was visiting family. Im in eastern Iowa and I rode to Duluth Mn and then home. I came down hwy 63 through Wisconsin then into Minnesota and Iowa. I wanted to miss the Twin Cities altogether.

Seat needs a little help. after about 4 hours I hurt around the tailbone area.

Id like to have a little more hp but also a little better gas mileage. The heat from that engine (cat) is pretty intense.

Minnesota and Wisconsin back roads are either beat to death or under construction making for a rough ride at times especially with a sore tail bone.

Heel shifter has to go and the footboards need to move out so I can move around a little. Left side was the worst.

Other than changes Id like to make the trip went well. Ride was good on good roads. Everything worked.

I know all of you are already aware of these conditions but I'm just adding my observations.

Ive got about a million bugs to clean today.

Dennis, glad to hear you got a good ride in!

I removed my heal shifter and moved the toe shifter out to where the heal shifter was. I got a spacer from Kuryakin to cover the inside part of the shaft where the toe shifter was origionally. I also put a Kury extended toe peg on the shifter.

When I did all this, I also put on a set of DK floor board extenders (moves the boards out an inch).

This set up works very well for me.

The heel shifter was my biggest complaint. I kept trying different ways to adjust my foot position but never found a spot. Floorboards need moved out as well. Apparently my boots are too big.

Just got back from the Canadian National HOG rally in Ottawa. 2640 wonderful miles. I have the H-D Road Zepplin air seat = Nothing's better - NOTHING. I also have a beaded seat pad that I bought for my SS1000 rides. A million cabbies can't be wrong. :)

I also have the 1" floor board extenders. I love my extended heel shifter (saves my spit shined boots). I use it 95% of the time. It also comes in handy if you loose the toe shifter, which a gal in my HOG chapter did a few years back. Got her to the dealer OK.

I don't take anything OFF the bike, it was put there for a reason. :)

I have a set of crotch coolers for the heat and I'm all set for comfortable riding.

Sounds like a fun ride! You've identified a lot of the same things that I did when first riding a Tri-Glide.

Besides upgrading the suspension to help eat up those bumpy roads (see Report HERE), an airhawk will do wonders improving the comfort of your seat.

With a little work you can get your temps down and your power up! Heat Report Link, and Increase Power Link

Have fun cleaning the TG...there are a lot of nooks and crannies those buggers get stuck in.
