Bear Mtn. NY
It was determined that the Ohio derailment was caused by an over heated wheel bearing .

It looks like to me that many wheel bearings got overheated

Accross the Hudson at Havestraw NY , today , a 18 wheeler bottomed out stuck on the crossing . Yup , it’s toothpicks now .Several car carriers have also got stuck there due to the high road crown . Repair the road at the crossing , local dummies!

The Ohio termination cause made me loose a mouth full of gin n tonic ….. I realize you can’t fix stupid , but they got to stop trying to take hostages ….:bigboss:

Messing with the Iron Horse never ends good

Hot boxes( overheated bearings are not new for rail roads) they should have the technology figured out by now I would think

I don't how they know when it's in transit but a former employer was beside a main line with a side spur beside that and I saw several bearing get changed.

A news report yesterday said there are sensors along the track that detect bearing temps and send a signal to the engineer as mentioned above. So, if they've gone so far as to install sensors along the track this problem has been going on for a while. NEGLIGENCE!!!
