Anyone ever use a towpac - 8" or 12" wheels? Thinking about putting one a a 96 Virago 1100 for the GF to learn drive on. Pros and cons welcome.

Get the 12 in wheels. I put one on a Suzuki 650 Burgman and it was a little squirly at first but after a little bit it was fine.

Very hard steering with those type add-ons! Must be correctly set-up or can actually be dangerous!
I would add a rake kit but, then you can never take the training wheels off unless you remove the rake kit also!
I would buy one of these types of systems only if I could not afford a trike!

Thanks for the inputs but a couple of you missed the point.

This is to be a training cycle for my GF not me. I already have 2009 Shadow Trike that's accummulated over 24K miles since July of '09. I figure a $5K investment might save me triple that amount in the long run.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any experiance with the SIDE PAC from Tow Pac. I have been considering this as a Full conversion alternitive because of the increased storage.

Like tfdeputydawg said, setup is the key. Three things to ensure that you do. Take the time to get the bike perfectly vertical in the mounting (this takes trial and resetting). Make sure you have the right preload on the helping wheels (again, can't just take what they recommend - have to try some depths of preload), then AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - get a rear tire with serious sidewall strength and traction mounted, tread direction reversed, on the front wheel.

Steering with the add on setup will over-strain the original motorcycle tire.

i looked at that system and voyager system, ended up with the voyager. wanted the larger wheels ( 14inch). they,re both good and fit the wallet better for me. installation is the key. i really enjoy my set up. steering will be completely different. mostly shoulders and arms. good luck in what you decide. ride safe-be safe !! have a great summer.

for i little more than 5k i can put a irs in most any trike!! including lean that compensates for the crown in the road
