Need guidance. Trailer and trike weighs about 1600 lbs. the tongue weight is 170 lbs. do you think that is enough or should I move the trike forward a little?

Thanks.

Rule of thumb is the tongue weight should be 10 - 15% of the weight of the trailer. Of course the weight changes as you vary the load in the trailer, but the % should always be in that range.

What kind or brand trailer did you get? I am leaning toward an Aluma TK1.
Woolies, that's the trailer I bought. I wish the company would have marked the bed where the supplied chaulk should be mounted. The problem is you need to drill holes through the deck so not to hit any ribs under the deck. I put the trike where I think it should go, then pyt a scale under the tongue; it measured 170 lbs. The trailer is 520 lbs, trike is 1230 lbs, so we mow have a total weight of 1750 lbs. I may need to move the trike forward, on the other hand, if I carry anything in the tool box, it will the be in that 10-15% range for tongue weight.
