To All Our Vets...

Pretty sure her dad would NOT be proud of her

I was stationed in Quantico, VA in '70 and '71. Mayday one of those years demonstrators tried to breach a number of bases. Attempts at the Marine base at Quantico were unsuccessful, they were met by armed Marines at the main gate and a water tanker with a high pressure suicide nozzle at the back gate backed up by an armed squad. (I was one of the guys on the nozzle...FUN!)

Ft. Belvoir did get breached by a few, including Fonda. Henry Fonda's reaction was they could keep her in the stockade!

SSgt Chambers is no longer on active duty but is there every year. Rolling Thunder now brings him and his family in from California every year. The first time was an impromptu action. A couple of years ago he got married at Rolling Thunder and his bride joined him, in her wedding gown. He holds that salute for over 4 hours as the procession rolls past him.

I retired in '90 with a 10% disability for my back. I have been using the VA for some things ever since. With Tricare (CHAMPUS in the early days) and now Medicare with Tricare as my secondary it was feasible to use civilian docs rather than make a 70 mile round trip every time I needed to be seen. I use them for my physicals, hearing, glasses and more now. Only complaint I have ever had was my primary care doctor's answer to every question is "quit smoking".

I have been reevaluated twice. Bumped me up to 30% the first time and 40% the last time. I appealed the last one and am now at 60%. Stories of reevaluation taking 90 - 180 days. Both times and the appeal were resolved in about 60 days.

Glad to hear you get things taken care of quickly.....and, oh yeah, quit smoking..........:)

Hope it lasts...

Thanks to our current Commander in Chief Trump for this. :clapping::clapping:

I spent 3 tours there. Worked in the Passenger Terminal at Osan. I was there in '78 when they found a huge tunnel under the DMZ. They also found a family in the next town over, Suwan, that had been murdered by North Koreans.

Not holding my breath until I see inspectors watching as they dismantle the nukes. I believe he is going to try to put one over on Trump.......not going to work.

IF, this all works out and Peace comes to the Korean Peninsula, I look forward to the major meltdown of the left when they announce Trump has won the Nobel Peace Prize....It's going to be very entertaining.:clapping::clapping:

I don't think this could have happened under any other President. Every other seemed stuck with appeasement over and over again. BUT, I don't trust anything or anyone, except my wife, so it remains to be seen if this lasts. Trust but verify, and damned frequently.

Hundred-Year-Old Handmade American Flag Flies Home… to Scotland

An amazing story of humanity-

"Islay’s American flag, hand-sewn on a sorrowful night a century ago serves today as a potent reminder of the goodness that can be found in the hearts of ordinary human beings, and inspires them to do extraordinary things in the face of adversity"

Uniforms

Oh so true..........in time I will like them also (hard to break tradition).

I DO think they add a little more class.

Ahhhhhhhh, to be back at SEA!

:Coffee:

Mine were blues, whites, and dungarees (wool for the blues, and cotton for the dungarees and whites not this polyester crap they have these days), but most of my time after boot camp and schools was spent in a flight suit. My grandson is career Navy and says all the uniform changes are getting pretty expensive to deal with. His dad and I got to do a tiger cruise with him on the Nimitz and it seems four different uniforms were being worn, including coveralls which I thought were reserved for submariners. Still don't understand why the Navy needs camouflage uniforms.

Being and old sailor myself. Do you remember what the two stars stand for, without googling it? What was the flap collar used for?

Finally, zippers on "Crackerjacks". For those days/nights in port of calls around the world where the liberty dress code is "Uniform of the Day", and after visiting and sampling wares of the various local adult beverage dispensaries...:p

In all seriousness, they do look sharp & should be an improvement over the standard fare...:clapping:
