THREE HOLES OIL

Oil is very controversial, but here’s my current line up:

I get great pricing on Amsoil and it is good oil, but I use specific oil for each hole.
(I’m liking the Bel Ray in the trans)

There will be many who use Syn3 in all three, and without issue. (Oil other oil like Mobile 1, Lucas, shock proof, etc…)

Again, I prefer to have specific oil for each hole (Motor, Primary & Transmission) and for me the cost is relatively the same either way.

Redline is my preferrence.

I have actually tested several motor oils where I work at in a 4 ball oil tester. Amsoil is the best of all there is in the major brands.

That reminded me I wanted to change the trans to Redline shockproof heavy. I pick up a qt at Orileys tomorrow so I can change it before our trip to the UP next week. I run mobile 1 15w50 in the engine. Did the same with my 06 glide classic for 66k. I put Shaffers dedicated primary oil in the primary. All is good cept it shifts like a 30's car with no syncros in the trans. Hydraulic clutch acts stupid at times also. Other than that its good :)

This a discussion I really hate to get into. I wont watch the video simply because I have seen them all and what I do seems to work so . For those that do watch it good for you :) . Hell I used to be an Amsoil dealer.

I use NAPA 15W50 syn, the new Gear oil in the Primary and Walmart, a Valvoline or Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil . I always said, the most important thing is actually changing it to the proper intervals.
I used Amsoil 20W50 in all 3 holes and SYN3 in all 3 holes. I didn’t really feel the need to continue. The current choice I have works best for me.

I am running Redline Engine, Transmision and Primary oil in their respective holes and have no complaints.
As Notgrownup stated change it at the proper intervals or sooner with the proper viscosity then you will be good.
I change all 3 and clean oil and air filters at 5000 miles.

Ride safe

I changed to redline shockproof heavy in the trans a week ago. Rode it once and we left for a weekend of camping without the trike . I have pretty much a week of riding up in northern Mi starting Friday . It will be interesting to see if the shockproof made it really any quieter or possibly smoother but I am staying with it. I am also staying with the Mobil 1 15w50 in the engine and the shaffers primary oil. Tired of spending money . ;)

Valvoline Motorcycle Full Synthetic 20W50 $7.67/qt always in stock at Walmart. Belray Primary and Belray Transmission. OEM Harley oil filter.

I have tried about every oil on the market at one time or another. Right now I'm running Mobile One 15/50 in the engine and 85-140 in the primary and transmission. Everything is good. Shifts great. No problem finding neutral.
