My wife and I will be visiting in Appleton Wisconsin the first week in June and would like to see some more of Wisconsin instead of heading straight back to Kansas. We will also be back to Madison for Wing Ding in July and are only planning for one day at Wing Ding and then
spending a week or so riding around before heading home. I will be in Oshkosh for Air Venture 2014 at the end of July but that trip will be by car with three of my flying buddies so we will take in the Oshkosh sites at that time. Trip advisor said Hwy 10 west of Appleton is a scenic route so we may take that into Minnesota during the June trip. Is there anything we should make sure we don't miss? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I live in eastern Wisconsin on the east side of Lake Winnebago. EAA is a great spot to visit. While in Appleton in June, you might be interested in visiting Green Bay and the Packer Hall of Fame at the stadium. Also continue on into Door County. Nice days trip.

Highway 55 north from Shawno to Crandon is a great ride. Highway 32 from Crandon to Eagle River. There are a lot of great roads in the northwoods. Watch out for deer, bears, and turkeys. We hit a deer last fall near Eagle River at 2:00 in the afternoon on our trike.

These may all be too far north from where you are traveling.

Thanks for the replys. We saw signs for the House on the Rocks when we were up there last month and plan on going to see it when we are in Madison for Wing Ding. I will look into the mustard thing and the circus, maybe we can see them at the same time. I would like to ride thru some of the forest in the northern part of the state so we will look into the roads around Crandon at that time. Next year we are planning on trips around Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. Do you think two weeks apiece will be enough time to do them justice? We are still in the planning stages so if you think of any other places we should see just let us know.
Thanks and Happy Birthday Wheels.

Mt. Horab where the mustard museum is, is about an hour from the House on the Rock. Becky and I have been to both places several times and we also are going back during Wing Ding.

Another vote for the House on the Rocks. You will not believe your eyes while you are there, and will question your memory after you leave. An amazing place.

My wife and I about 4 years ago rode around Lake Superior. I believe we took 8 days as we did a lot of site seeing. Still riding on 2 wheels then and ended up on a few gravel roads :) The Agawa Canyon train trip is a must when you are in Sault Ste Marie. West of Thunder Bay is a nice water falls to see. Something that starts with a K :)

The falls are the Kakabeka Falls.
We like going around Superior clock wise, West to East.
Make sure you have enough gas.
Once into Upper Michigan, you might want to ride back west along the south shore of Lake Superior on M-28.
When you get into Michigan, stop and get a Travel U.P. of Michigan book. More to see there then you have time for.

Thanks shmick
We decided not to go to Wing Ding this year but will be leaving Monday to ride to Appleton to visit our daughter and new grand daughter.
When we leave to head back to Kansas we are going to take 55 around the east side of Lake Winnebago to 151 to 26 to 19 and stay about Three days in Madison. From there we will visit the House on the Rock, Baraboo, Wisconsin Dells, Madison, etc.. When we leave Madison we will be taking 113 to 33 where we will head west to LaCrosse. I am leaving time for some side trips between Appleton and LaCrosse and haven't looked at a route for the trip between LaCrosse and home yet. I am planning on two weeks but may take a few more days if we find things to do and see. I just need to get home in time to pick up three other guys to head back to Oshkosh for Air Venture at the end of the month.

may be too late to chip in, but if your any where near Viola, look for road G. (if memory serves me well) and go to the S&S Ranch. if your into motorcycles and a bit of motorcycling history, the little museum is really cool and the people at the ranch were extremely friendly. hard to believe one of the most advanced machine shops in the USA is on a farm in the middle of nowhere,

Another gem: Horicon Marsh! Just after 26 meets 151 near Waupun, take 49 east for 3 miles. There's a great 3.5 mile drive/loop through the largest cattail marsh in the US, just off 49 on the right after the bridge. LOTS of bird action (migratory rest stop) and quiet, natural beauty. You won't regret it, keep camera at the ready!

Thanks I will put both of these places on our list of places to see. A friend that went to Wing Ding picked up three poker runs and three scenic drives that they were handing out directions for and scanned them at the hotel and e-mailed them to me. They even listed some good places for meals and home made pie. Looking forward to seeing some sites.
