I was going down the highway doing 65mph in the right lane , traffic was heavy. This white plastic bag , bigger than a house trash bag , comes floating up about 2 ft in the air behind the car in front of me . I hit it but it is not on the front of my bike . I am thinking it went under the bike and is behind me . I glance in the mirrors only cars on road no white bag. Where did it go ???

I take the next exit off highway & pull into a shopping mall parking lot, got off & looked to see if it was stuck behind the front tire. Nope, went to get back on when this car pulls up & says it is behind you . Sure enough it was hanging out the back & the end of it was melted to my tail pipes .I couldn't help wondering if all the people who see me must of thought I pulled my parachute to slow down .

After 47+ years or riding Bikes/Trikes i can honestly say I've hit or missed more things that i can remember.... Every day its an adventure out there' Nothing surprises me any more.. Sometimes it seems that bikes have their own Gravitational Field' And will pull in road debris's, Especially those pesky plastic bags...:gah:

The craziest thing I almost hit was back when I was still on two wheels. We were riding with friends and I was leading. We came around a slight bend in the road and I saw running white tails flagging in the woods off to our left. I slowed and motioned for the riders behind to slow thinking maybe there were more deer to cross yet. The next thing that jumped out acrossed the road in front of us was a mountain lion. Not a normal sight to see! It was gone in a flash after the deer.

It wasn't what I hit, but what hit me. A sparrow kamikaze placed its beak into my cheek as I was traveling 70 down an interstate. I saw it hovering quite a distant ahead, but didn't think much of it at the time so shifted my eyesight back to the road when all of a sudden it was an instant blur in my sight with no time to react. I quickly pulled the dead bird with a broken neck from my cheek. Still have the scar from that little suicide flyer.

Last May, we came around a corner, and saw a couple of crows (I think) in the middle of the road. As we got closer, they took off, one of them with something in it's mouth. It was trying to gain elevation, flying down the middle of the road. I slowed down, significantly, when I realized it was a snake. The crow gave up, and released the snake, about 20 ft in front of us. Good thing, as even though it was dead, if the snake had landed on us, my wife would've caused an accident, trying to get off a moving bike and away from the snake!

I was traveling east on I10 on the west side of Houston with 4 lanes traveling east. I was in the next to the slowest lane and saw a large box in the fast lane. A pickup truck hit it. It wasn't a box but a huge projection TV. After the truck hit it, the TV spun wildly across all lanes of traffic and hit the wall. I missed it by 10 ten and had a bunch of hard plastic pieces hit me. I may have missed by 10 feet but at 60 mph, it was very close.

This was on my 07 Ultra Classic. Riding in a group, about 40, after a mission at the Veteran's Home. Scooting down I-25 at the speed limit, 75. I was in the middle of the group on the right side. All of a sudden, the group started to split open and brake lights came on. I could see something in the middle of the right lane that looked like a semi tire. I just skimmed by the tire on my left and then had to avoid the metal split ring, that was folded like a taco, on the right side. I do not know how any of us missed the 3 semi size tires and rims on the road, but the good Lord was with us that day. Less than a 1/4 mile down the road, a semi, moving a house boat was sitting on the right side of the road with no tires and wheels on the left side of the transport trailer. After that event we opened up the pack and slowed for a few miles.

I hit a "blister bug" once, caught me square in the chest. It's a species of flying beetle that secretes a toxic goo as a defense, that causes a painful blistering rash on the skin, hence the name. Damn was huge, felt like getting hit in the chest with a golf ball! Needless to say, it self-destructed on impact and deposited it's payload all over my shirt. I had a blistering itchy rash on my chest for about two weeks after the encounter. Then more recently, I caught a rock in the face tossed up by an oncoming truck. Nailed me right on the cheek bone. Not the first time, but it was the first one to break the skin. Stung like a b!tch!

Other than that, plenty of close calls with dogs, birds and just about every indigenous species of four-legged wildlife in the state. So far, I count myself as lucky!

PEACE and ride safe! :Dorag:

On a 2 wheeler had mattress inner spring come out from under car in front of me in the fast lane. There was no time to react went right over it no crash. Ridin my sidecar about 35 mph through town. A basketball rolls out a driveway. I hit it you'd think it would just bounce off. Nope sidecar tire goes right over it, sidecar shoots straight up with my wife in it. The only thing saved it from going over I put my foot down pushed it back over. Sittin at red light one day on trike, guy comes around the corner hits a pot hole. His hubcap comes off and hits my trike right between my feet, no damage me or trike.

Or that you didn't tear your paper off the roll?
Hi CrystalPistol, I guess, but if the bag covered my windshield I would have needed the whole roll :AGGHH:

Hi rhino, I have been riding seen 2009 , & have around 16,500 on the
bike now . I agree , about the gravitational field & road debris ,you never know what you may see or be in your way.

Thinking back i do remember hitting a Pig once' It was a few years ago late at night and i was on my Victory. I was cruising down this back road and it was pitch black with out any street lights or any houses for miles' I was lucky to keep the bike upright. I stop and checked on the bike no damage to it' And the Pig was nowhere to be seen... Like i said it was dark and nobody was around , So figured let me get out of here so i got on the bike and rode the 35 miles back home.Just when i arrived home their was a State Trooper waiting for me. And he wrote out two tickets ' One was for leaving the scene of an accident' The second one was for injuring a farm animal...As he handed me the tickets i asked the Trooper how do you know it was me who hit the Pig??.... He just looked at me and said.. ''The Pig Squealed''........

I think you should take 2 aspirins and go to bed now.

Lucky that you kept the bike upright. That's probably what saved your bacon. :qpnmt:

I am dodging deer all the time.
I have hit a couple with different trucks but so far not my trike

The strangest thing was Big Foot. Yes I said it Big Foot.
It was a foggy morning a long time ago and I swear some big hairy ape like thing passed in front of me. His Eyes were glowing in the dark.
I have never believed in Big Foot even though I am from Washington state but that day got me thinking..... maybe!

I almost forgot...................

A few years back I had a Ghost Cowboy on a horse right in front of me.

I went right through him.

Again I do not believe in ghost but that got me thinking. There was something there

Not kidding these things did happen!

Sorry but this is not a nice story so don't read if you do not want that ........................
A number of years back, I was over 5 different sites in a few different states, so I would spend a lot of time on the road. 1 time when I was either coming or going to Charleston WV, I seen some SOB throw a puppy out the window going about 70 MPH

I wont describe what happened to the dog but I did chase that SOB until he trued off. I called 911 and followed him until he stopped and the cops took over
They took my statement and arrested the guy. I was going to beat the crap out of him but I figured that would only hurt for a short while but if I got the cops involved he would suffering a lot longer.

I don't really know what happened to the guy but I hope it was bad

What a piece of garbage. I hope they put him under the jail.

Small 4 legged critters that lay in wait in the drainage ditches and then play chicken as you ride past. Skunks in particular followed by possums and racoons. :gah:

When I was a kid back in Washington it was porcupines.
I would ride dirt bikes all the time on the logging trails and around the woods
Every now and then would get a leg full of needles

Several years back going around the east side of Baltimore, a large Blue heron came out of a swampy area, just missed my windshield and then as they are apt to do, he squirted a large trail of excrement as he veered away. Somehow I missed it but my neck hurt from ducking.

Another time in east Texas a bobcat jumped from the brush and nearly landed on us. I never saw it but my wife did and I thought she was going to get off right then and there. Made the bike wobble quite a bit!!

Some friends of ours and Ma and I were on our way back from having lunch in the quaint little town of Michanopy on US 27, in Florida. We were following the first rider and he startled a big group of turkey buzzards eating something just off the edge of the road. All the birds took off flying the same direction we were riding, close enough that we had the proverbial "birds eye view" which isn't really all that great when you're talking about buzzards. I had just hit the turn signal button to change lanes when I glanced in the left mirror to see if I was clear to move over and this slow learner buzzard decides to make a left turn right into the right side of our fairing. It didn't hurt the fairing or us but the guy behind us said it sent up a scatter of bird spray. All the other birds slowly gained elevation and went off to the right. The one bird we became acquainted with must have been part of the "thinning the heard" program.

I was riding a Road King on a narrow 2 lane country road, just as I came down a slight incline I saw 3 buzzards eating a skunk. It had just started drizzling so I didn't dare cram on the brakes, but I did let off of the gas and lowed my head behind the windshield. Two flew off in the opposite direction. One flew up toward me, hit my headlight, was slung around to the side, repositioned my turn light, kept going and erupted all over my engine guard.

The really bad part was the smell of the meat cooking on my engine.

Had the very same experience back in the '80's. Riding on I-70 into KC. Maybe 1/4 mile past the toll booth into KC the car in front of me swerved violently to the left....there it was a king sized mattress right in the middle of the road. Felt like I was on an 8 second ride in a rodeo but kept it up right.
