The EPA just sent out a notice to all Laundromats to instruct it patrons when they are washing socks to tie them together in a knot especially cotton socks. It seems that a lot of single socks are getting past the washing machines drains and then passing past the local sewage treatment plants and ending up in the nations waterways, The problem is the socks especially cotton socks absorb's salts and other chemicals left over from the laundry detergents ' And many homeless people who tend to frequent the edges of most waterways, Will then pick up the socks and use them and develop a life threatening rash.. There have been 35 reported injuries resulting in one death....So please tie your socks in a knot...

If everyone ties their cotton socks together at local laundries it'll only be more difficult for the homeless to put them on. :qpnmt: I suspect that most are taken from the machines than going down the drains.

Hey' I just report the facts nothing but the facts... What the homeless do with the socks is none of my business .. For all i know they might use one for a sock hat' Till they find a second one..Maybe they stash their fatties in them..:Shrug:

Also in EPA news....

The EPA announced today an unnamed manufacturing company was fined an undisclosed but substantial sum for dumping of waste into the nation's ecosystem. The company and fine remain confidential pending investigation into further violations. The agency did not release details, except to say said manufacturer was found to be illegally dumping rejected out of tolerance holes, which would eventually accumulate and cause dangerous sinkholes.
