Yep... Total of 15 Million dollars in fines... And they have to buy back all the offending tuners in dealers stock and destroy them... Just Google it... For all the info'''

I would think the dealers have a do not sell order on them....

This only pertains to the H-D Supertuner,,so far. Actually,I'm sure your local Harley dealer would make you a deal on one, today,as they are not required to stop selling them until August 23.

This is going to stop other makers to stop selling their versions of Supertuners. Bet DK will stop. How about it Kevin.

H-D is in the business of selling motorcycles and trikes. They are also selling products to get around EPA regulations. Being the Big Dog,they were the obvious choice to go after. The smaller companies aren't selling bikes & trikes and their products are expressly labeled as "OffRoad & Racing Use Only",a small but important distinction. Don't think it's time to panic just yet so let's just let this play out a little before making any assumptions.

I'm sure Kevin will offer his thoughts on this,as well.

Clint you are correct in not panicking. Harley has for years been one of the few manufactures that outright sold performance parts that went around EPA. They put on the fine print for off road/racing but we all know about that. I think they just went a little to far and the EPA said enough. This whole business has all ready been through the auto industry remember the 70's and the terrible running cars we had to put up with. Then the auto industry engineers got in gear and solved the problems and the performance cars today run circles around the performance cars of the 50's and 60's meeting today's tougher restrictions. We can just hope that Harley and the others can bridge the change quicker then the cars did. The after market in the car industry survived and still sells products today to make our cars OURS. I expect the same in the MC industry.

I'm old enough to remember that my parents survived Prohibition. When the government cracked down on alcohol, people started making it themselves. I still have a antique glass bottle-capper for capping bottles of home-made beer.

And, I hope, manufacturers like Nightrider.com adapt as well. Instead of making potentiometers with Deutsch connectors pre-wired at each end, they can sell kits of parts & instruction sheets, to make-it-yourself.

More than .........

Not only tuners. High flow intake and exhaust too. Longhorn H-D here in Grand Prairie, TX and their sister store Maverick in Carrollton are some of the biggest violators when it comes to EPA rules.
