Testing the new exhaust and being on 3 wheels

Just for something to do yesterday, my wife and I took off and rode up to a small town quite a ways out. I "needed" a patch sewn on my vest and it was a good reason / excuse to ride. In fact, rode all the way up there for about a 10 minute stop.
I changed out my stock exhaust to V&H power duals a couple of months ago to get rid of the catalytic converter and the heat that has melted two clutch cables. TG has now gone from about 25 mpg to about 32 mpg, I think that is pretty impressive.
I guess you could say the real test was when we were about ohhh say "FIVE" miles from the house and wouldn't you know it....there was a vehicle accident that shut down all 5 lanes on the highway. There we are "stuck" in the fast lane, no place to go, no way out. We were "inching" along for 1 1/2 hrs....
The heat didn't bother my wife at all, I didn't start really feeling it until about an hour had passed and it was mostly left side. Fortunately it was only 84 degrees out, so not real bad. Not having a cat anymore to me, paid big dividends. If you are considering new exhaust to get rid of that unbearable heat, do it.

The best part of the whole ordeal......being on THREE wheels! that would have been miserable on two!!

My 03 Ultra(stock exhaust - no cat) sitting in traffic(?) at the Canadian border in 80* temps, my oil was 300* according to the digital dipstick and I couldn't keep the bike from moving forward with the clutch cable pulled all the way in. I had to pull over for a half hour to let it cool down. That is the hottest temp I've ever seen. As soon as I got home I changed all the fluids even though I changed the oil before I left. :censored:

I should probably do the same thing....I don't have a temp indicator on my cap....but it most likely got way hotter than it needed to. I also think I will invest in an indicator cap.....

it has happened before....so therefore

you got it, it WILL happen again
