I recently purchased 2014 triglide. it came with stock shocks and a legend lift kit. My first trike.

I have been reading about upgraded suspension. DKCustom shocks for about $1000 and Wilbers for double that.

1. With the lift kid do I need shocks?

2. will i notice an improvement with shocks? Handling? Ride? worth the money?

3. Other options?

Thanks OPR1945

Leo, you can definitely improve your ride with good quality shocks. Whether or not you need them is dependent on several factors. Road condition in your ride area, how much you ride, and passenger comfort come to mind. I have two buddies on stock Triglides that never mention a problem with ride quality. I am running Bitubo shocks and am very happy with them. There are probably several others that are better but I got really good “bang for the buck”, completely satisfied.

I would suggest you lower your rear tires to 20-22psi and experiment with the pressure in your shocks (2 or 3 psi change at a time). Be sure to use a no loss pump designed for shocks. Then ride several thousand miles before deciding if you need to spend your money (and how much) on an upgrade. Good luck with your decision.

One of the 1st things I did to my 2018 was to replace the stock shocks. I found that the more air I put in them the harder the ride. Less air caused bottom outs. Even the "Pro Action 14"" shocks aren't a perfect ride, but it's about as good as it's gonna get. Riding a TriGlide is a learning experience. It's not like riding on two wheels. I have learned to read the road in a way specific for a trike. Lowering the rear tire pressure is something you should experiment with. Eventually you will find the right combination of all these factors.

HD could really make the ride better with some design improvements. Will they??

If Harley made perfect bikes and trikes….They still wouldn’t perfect because people would still want to make it more perfect ..😁..
