Haven't been to Sturgis in 11 years. Always camped there (8x). The wife wants A/C and medicine needs a refrigerator. Thinking of renting near Main St. so I can walk to bars and nite life. Planning to ride from Long Island. Probably take a week with wife and she might fly back home.
Wondering if anyone else is heading out there and if anyone is interested in splitting a house rental?
Wife also just bellowed that she needs a coffee maker in morning or I will pay and pay dearly.:Coffee: :Joker3:

Bellowed? She BELLOWED???? LOL! Hope she isn't reading over your shoulder or you are in trouble! ..... :brushspank:

I'd love to go some day but I don't think I could take being that near all the action. I would prolly camp out of town somewhere where you could get some sleep. You may have trouble getting a room this late in the game. If that's what you want I'd go ahead and start calling now.

Whatever, when you get back let us know how it came out and maybe some pics. Maybe next year.

We are going out there again this year.
I'm leading a group of us, heading out there on Thursday and leaving on Tuesday.
Will spend 2 days there. the rest will be riding the area.
If you haven't been there in 11 years, it has really grown since then.

There actually still are some rental houses in town. I'm looking at them right now.
As far as meeting, when the time get's closer, I'll make a Sturgis post again. I plan on having my laptop with me anyways.
And yes, she bellowed and yes she read what I wrote and smacked me!

We rented a Large 5 bedroom cabin 2 miles from Deadwood. It has a 3 car garage. (The garage saved our bikes from the hail storm).

I found it on the VRBO web site.

I'll go back some year.

bdn56, we got out there on Saturday, the day after that big Hail storm hit.
It real tore up all the camp grounds and ruined a lot of bikes.
I had heard that one guy got hit by a hail stone the size of a soft ball and killed him.

I remember in the early '09's, during a hail storm, a certain M/C club had their prospects lay across their patch holders bikes.

Will be there in 2011, camping with a Bunkhouse camper in Spearfish and I always carry a coffee pot. Friends are staying in Spearfish at the Black Hills College, in the dorms there, they rent them out for the rally at a very reasonable rate, just in case you don't find a rental home.

Good info about dorm rooms. I'll have to remember that for future reference. The wife has now rethought this years big vacation and is thinking of Hawaii. I would at least rent a bike there for a week. Of course, she may change her mind another 20 times this weekend.

We've been several times but haven't been in 2 years. Always stay in Rapid City, Holiday Inn, since I matured thats close enough. Some of the best scenic rides in the country are in that area. My Dad and I rode thru the badlands one time and he said that must have been where they filmed the moon landing. LOL Dad and I rode Harleys (first Honda in '06) together from '69 till '85 and he gave it up. Man you just can't replace those memories, sorry enough rambling. Becky started riding with me in '99 when we got married so when we go now we always take in Cody, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone etc. but really like Beartooth Pass. Crap just talking about it has got me thinking of going back this year. Head um up. Charley

We made reservations with a few riding companions for a campground far enough out of town to be quiet for sleeping, but close enough to take the shuttle to the action if we wanted. Now it looks like some surgery is in my near future and I may not get to go after all. <img src="images/smilies/gah.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Gah" class="inlineimg" /> It would have been my first time to Sturgis.

We went last year. It was nice, but it was really hot! I guess my impression is "Been there, done that!" I still think the blue ridge mountains are the best riding. Don't get me wrong, I love that we went, but even my Hubby says, it's was over rated. He is the one that really wanted to go. Did love Spearfish Canyon, Keystone, Devils Towers etc. We only went into Sturgis one day and that was before the crowds got there, but it was still crowded. I can't imagine sitting in all that traffic on a Tri Glide......OUCH!!!
