Stock Exhaust

I've got a '13 Triglide, I was under the understanding that if you look down the right exhaust you could see quite a ways down, and the left one had a slug in it.

Both of mine have slugs in them about 6 1/2 inches from the outer edge in, as per pictures.

Wondering if you guys have the same looking setup on stock pipes? Or is mine different?

I'm wondering how loud they would be if I just took a hole saw and cut them out of there. Has anybody done this?

I haven't looked down a stock muffler in years, I can tell you it will be louder if you cut the baffle. The problem is the sound may not be music to your ears, it may border on car with bad exhaust system type of sound.

Msocko's right. They'll get louder, but not any better sounding IMO. They don't get a lot louder. A 3/4" pipe that's been cut to a point on one side works just fine if you don't have a hole saw.

Put the Fullsac recore kit in those stock mufflers and you will like the results and the sound. The $$$$ aren't bad either and the job is really easy. Might as well throw on their headers at the same time.

Or just do what I did and switch the stock out for the Fatshotz with the Fullsac headers.

Same as on mine. Go for a real long ride before you do anything and pay attention to all the other loud, annoying noises the bike makes and then you won't want to make the pipes louder. I had V&H on and put the stock back. The constant drone got real trying. :NoJoke:

I have a 2011 and my left and right mufflers are different. My left muffler looks like yours, the right muffler has perforations at the end and the blocking plate is way up the pipe farther. I stuck a golf club handle in the left pipe and only the rubber handle went in before hitting the plate. The golf club went almost to the club head on the right muffler. Very highly technical way of measuring . Looks like you have two left mufflers unless Harley started us the same muffler for both sides. I installed V&H power duals head pipes and mufflers. Sounded good but wife could not stand the loudness. I put stock mufflers back on but left the V&H head pipes without a cat converter. Does not sound too bad and louder than stock.

I went with the Full Sac Stage 1 Kit. Kept my stock mufflers but went with the 2.0 baffles. Love the sound and it really helps with the heat and I now have more pep in my step

How do I remove these stock mufflers from my Harley Tri Glide, can anybody tell me.

look for the clamp on the end of the muffler loosen clamp.then remove the two bolts on top of the muffler at the rear then wiggle and jiggle they are off..A little lube will help remove..

Ditto what trikermutha said: a little WD-40 or your choice of penetrating oil, let it set a bit to loosen the rust and corrosion, then wiggle it off.

p.s. all this is a crapload easier if you jack the back of the trike up and take the wheels off. A whole lot easier to get to. Be sure to re-torque the wheels after about 100 miles if you take them off.

My son got a 13 Road Glide a month ago or so. As far as the exhaust goes between the Tri Glide and the Road Glide is there is a section of pipe under the Tri Glide that goes to the right muffler a bit longer than the pipe going to the right muffler on the Road Glide. (no restrictions in it at all).
My son asked me what I though his bike would sound like if he driller his mufflers. (he will change the whole exhaust later when he saves up some more cash). I told him I didn't think it would sound good.
Well he driller his anyway, LOL kids. Why ask me then?
To my amazement his does sound nice after drilling the mufflers out with a hole saw. Not excessively loud but a nice sound. Considerabley better that before he drilled them. He's even happy with the sound and he's pretty anal about what he wants his bike to sound like. He still has the stock head pipe with the cat in it so I can't say what it would sound like with out the cat. But I have see some that removed the cat and put the stock mufflers back on with out it and are happy with the sound also.

I have an 11 T/G and the left muffler is baffled [concave shaped plate] to even out back pressure, I went to true duels and wanted to use the stock mufflers, so i reamed the left one out, Just ended up with more noise, And an annoying raspy noise at that!!...
Finely i had to use slip-ons...
