Sportster Suggestions

Would like to trike my 2007 883 Sportster. Being 5'7" and only 150-Lbs., Sportsters are my bikes of choice. Looking to spend as little as possible as this is something I'm "forced" to do due to a post-op condition after spinal fusion. Want a real trike conversion, so I'm looking at Frankenstein and Champion which are both in the same price range.
Any suggestions on which might be better for a Sportster application?
I have three Sportsters, but choosing the 2007 as it's fuel injected and very low miles. Thanks in advance...Hobbs

I am a long time dealer for both Frankenstein and Champion and I like the champion over the Frankenstein for a couple of reasons. One, its a bit less in cost and secondly it come with dual disc brakes as standard equipment rather than the single disc.

also you can go to the Champion web site and download the instructions to see how it is done. If you are looking for a great installer Bazooka is your man.

I did a Champion kit on a 2009 Sportster (1200 Custom) a little over a year ago, and will be doing a second one on a 2010 1200 Custom as soon as it gets to my house. The Champion is a nice kit. Bazooka (Randy) is the man to talk to when you get ready to order. I would highly suggest adding a rake kit (5 degrees), it makes a world of difference in the handling. Are you planning on doing the work yourself, or have it installed? Here is a link to my build...

You will like the trike conversion, they are a blast to ride!

I installed a Frankenstein kit on my 08 1200, only thing I don't like is the V& H short shots are too loud for me. I fabbed a second baffle along with the quiet baffles to tone it down. I would think dual discs stop better but I have done some hard stops 2 up with no problem. Don't recall[ differential used?] why I chose Frankenstein over Champion. Either way you can't go wrong. You will be surprised at how well these kits handle twisties.

2008 harley 883 trike

I own a2008 883 with Frankenstein kit, handles great but I have not seen a place to grease rear end.I bought it back in july.Very pleased with it.

My wife was hurt at work and her 2007 Sportster Low sat for two years.
3 back surgeries later and the install of the Frankenstein kit has her loving it. We have done a lot of mods and she has won 1st place in 3 shows! She says she wishes she would have done it 5 years before.
She LOVES the loud V&H SHORT SHOTS!! :>) Yes, get the raked triple tree.
As I recal she didn't like the looks of the rear width of the Champion?
In 3 years we haven't had a single thing to fix on the Frankenstein.

trike.JPGtrike.JPGWe installed a Frankenstein kit on my wife's 2009 1200 low. She loves it. We had a small touring pak installed on the back attached to a quick connect system so she can take it off if she wishes to. The front forks were racked out 4degrees to help it steer easier. We installed 10 inch mini apes to help it steer easier and more relaxing for her arms to drive. It has Vance Hines short shots on it and she loves the sound of the exhaust. The kit was painted to match the rest of the bike. I also installed a fairing with a stereo system built into it.We like this kit because we didn't like the looks of the wider kits that were available. Thanks, Krazy "I"
