Not sure how to describe what happened but here goes. Was out on my first ride of the year, and coming out of a curve, now going straight, the rear end kicks out. It felt like when you lose traction on ice or wet pavement, it swerved to the right. I wrote it off thinking I hit a bad section of road.

About an hour latter the same thing happened, only different road and going straight for miles. The reason I posted is to see if any of you have had anything like this happen to you, and if you can tell me anything to look for before I bring it in. Is there anything in the rear that would cause this. The only other thing I can think of is tires, but they only have 4 thousand miles on them.

Start with the simple things, Check the tires really close air pressures 'lug nuts act , If you can get the rear wheels of the ground and shake them checking for any thing loose ,

How are the brakes, Maybe one is dragging..?....Let us know what you find out...

Have you checked the pressure in the tires? Similar thing happened to the front end of my wife’s Spyder last year, and she only had 10 pounds in one of them.

If you can't quickly find and resolve the cause, then waste no time in having the professionals perform the necessary diagnostic checks. The risks are too high!!

Sorry guys haven't taken it in yet, Other things have taken my time up lately.I will let you know as soon as I take it in and find out what's happening. Waiting to be called in for the clutch recall on my Road King, should be another week or so then the Tri glide will go in at the same time. I have two bikes I'm leary about riding.

Something strange

$50,000 of broken toys. Instead of a nice cabin in the mountains that could be used 365 days a year. What's wrong with US?

Well apparently I must be losing my mind. Just got a call from the dealer, and they said they went over the trike and couldn't find anything wrong. They said they rode it and couldn't duplicate what I described. Well I guess it was Gremlins, I know it happened, two times in one day.Not sure on what I'm going to do next. I guess I'll try and ride it and see if it happens again. Right now I can tell you I don't trust it, and I'm not going to have my wife ride with me until I'm sure It's ok.

Standard Harley dealer statements: 'They all do that' and 'Could not duplicate.' Gotta love it NOT! This BS is so so very tiring and a insult to the intelligence of those of us who purchase these overpriced machines. Hope you get it sorted soon. Good luck.

Strange

Just grasping at straws. In Pa. Penndot uses hot tar to seal cracks in the roadways. Sometimes these tar patches are several inches wide and extend across the lane(s) and are more slick than ice, especially in rain or when the big trucks drip oil on the road. I've had several white knuckled experiences on the road king. The trike, not so much.

In NY they are Road Snakes. We have a heavily traveled windy road that was covered with them. The local first responders were picking up 2 wheelers every weekend. End result, it had to get repaved.

ride the same road again

now that your aware of the problem, why not ride the road again. and if you have another occurance, stop and if possable inspect the road, etc
