Hi everyone, have a question. If some one gets their goldwing triked and has a parking brake with the kit. Is there anyway of using the wire that was connected to the side stand and hook it up to the parking brake. When the parking brake is set the amber "S" light will come on cluster and when it is released the light goes out, that way you know if the brake is still on or not and you won't wear out the back brakes. Has anyone done that or its just not a good thing to do. I am getting my new 12' G.W. triked w/ RS kit and was just curious.

Sure it is only a switch do it right and you can also prevent a start up with the brake on.

Don't see why it couldn't be done Russ. All it woud take is a couple micro switches and some bracket/mount fabricating. I bet it wouldn't be all that hard to do and you'd have a pretty neat set up. Look in the service manual for the wire diagram and let your imagination run wild...

Thanks gents for the feedback. I am going to look into. I just did not know if anyone has done it or nope can't do that, not good situation. Russ

Here is how I set up an idiot light on my '06 CSC. About a year after doing it this way, someone came up with the bright idea of tying the switch into the kickstand switch. I think it's a much better way to go I just haven't checked into weather the kickstand switch is a NO or NC switch. On mine it should be as simple as changing out the switch, if necessary, and wiring over to the kickstand switch.

Here's the wiring diagram.

Here are some pictures of the install, light and switch used.

OK, just did some checking on my CSC, my installer removed the kickstand and cut the kickstand wire downstream for the plug then twisted together the green ground wire and the green and white wire that goes to the engine control module. Looking at the diagram, the Honda switch is a SPDT switch the same as what I installed on my parking break. This is going to be a simple change from what I have! Just run wires from the parking break switch to the kickstand switch then solder the wires and I'm done.

OK, here's the final wiring of the SPDT roller switch. If you don't want to put the extra LED on the dash then omit the LED on dash note.

Thanks John for the setup advice and schematics. I will look into this and show my installer on what you have there. I am not an electrical person so I will tell them about what your setup is. Thanks again. Have a great and safe riding day. Russ
