Oil leaking from somewhere under the rearend. It smells like gear oil and is everywhere under the body, but not leaking from the input shaft seal or either half shafts seals. I don't know where else to look?:Shrug:Any help would gladly be appreciated. Tike is only 1 month old with 1500 miles on it. I did drive it hard yesterday in the twisty mountains of Colorado! Does anyone know where the vent cap/tube is located on the CSC rear end.

Could it be coming from the vent tube? Since it's that new, hard use would heat up the rear and cause expansion of the fluid. Puke out the vent tube.

If it's not under warranty
NAPA sells a leak detecting dye, With a black light you can find the leak'.

Turns out that it was the input shaft seal (pinon seal), took a piece of tin 4x22 inches and secured it to the trike frame arched shield around the rear u joint and input shaft seal with angled brakets pop riveted to the tin and secured to the trike with 4 allen head bolts. Wiped down all the oil and took it for a test drive. When I returned I had oil all over the shield that I attached. Call CSC and they gave me the address of the closest dealer. Dealer stated that it would be 2 to 3 weeks before they could get it in and a week to repair it. Called Kyle at CSC and he gave me the part number for the seal which I found at Oreilly's (5778 National seal) and replaced myself 3 hours start to finish and no leaks now.

That is the way to go, still trying to get a parts list for my trike.

Could be willing to pay for it, did not come with kit.

Great job fixing it yourself, but are you going to send CSC an invoice for parts & labor. I would think that CSC would be happy to pay you especially after the, 'oh sure we'll fix it, later a lot later & leave for 4 1/2 days longer than the time needed to fix it run-around' their dealer gave you. CSC would have to pay their non-customer service dealer, so why not you and hope to keep a customer happy. Just an idea, its not like your trying to be greedy & get rich off them. :wave4:

Good luck with that ! I am going to have a small fuss with Champion installer over exhust alinement and of course I will be going nowere with it.:Trike1:

Keep an eye on the new seal. If the seal failed due to installation error - ok. However, there may be a reason the original failed and if the cause has not been fixed then this seal may also fail.

Robval. If you want to find that leak yourself, put some baby powder around the leak and take the bike for a ride. When you get back, the oil that's leaked out will have washed the powder away and you've found your leak.
