I just want to put a plug in for these guys.

I bought my 02 GL1800 Road Smith from a fella in FL.

I knew nothing about the bike and they could tell me little about the history except they changed their own oil and filter. My dealer in Augusta will not work on the trike part of the vehicle. I had a service done: valves, oil, filter, etc. here. But I still wasn't comfortable with it's lack of history.

I drove to WOTS in Cherokee and as I pulled into town I noticed a little noise at low speeds. The first vendor I saw was Schroaders and they were selling a RS Trike GL1800. I asked one of the guys to come look at it. He left his booth , crawled under it and told me to bring it in Sunday morning to their shop and he thought he could fix it easily and he did.

While there I asked for them to go over it more closely and they did maintainance on the drive shaft, changed the brake fluids, but they found a problem in the steering ( bearings ).

Each step of the process they invited me into the shop to watch what they were doing. My rear front fender was broken and had been JB welded in the past.

Rather than go fenderless they took one off of another 1800 to replace mine and will order the replacement for theirs. I could either get the new onwe in orange or keep the silver one. I would just drive up to exchange. But I am keeping the silver. It matches the motor and blends in perfectly. Walking thru their show room and lot you find bikes with different parts missing where they did the same for someone else.

Walking in their warehouse, I counted I think 30 or more wings still in crates. There was a line of assorted and eclectic bikes. I asked about one and the owner said , "they aren't for sale, Yet anyway!" They were his collection.

I was their for 6 hours or longer, they got everything done.

They repeated to me several times, "you're only 3 hours away, we want to be your service dealer".

Some stuff I'll have done here in Augusta, but trike repairs will be done at Schroaders.

By the way there was another fella there from Alabama having work done. They had to order parts so he was going to be a layover till Tuesday.

They are GOOD PEOPLE! I was with the folks from ALABAMA. They are closed on Saturday & Wednesday. Sunday is a work day for them. They had Dave's parts overnighted and he is ready to leave in the morning. Seem to be very nice accommodating folks. One of them said they had 40 Wings in crates in that warehouse. More new Wings than I ever saw in one place. GREAT FOLKS ThumbUp

They did the same for me several years ago, took a part off a bike on the showroom and let me buy it so I could get on my way. I never seen a dealer do that before......By the way, Schroaders is in NC not TN.

Talked to my friend Dave and they just got home a few minutes ago. Overnighted parts arrived 10:30 am Tue., ready to ride around 3:30 pm. They left there early this AM. Hope no one needs it, but they have an agreement with the motel next door for a pretty decent discount if ya borke down.

I live 90 miles away. Its well worth the trip and a darn good reason to take a ride. I think its I20 exit 49, second red light west of the interstate take a left and then another left up the hill on the right. http://schroaders.com/
