Does anyone know about dealing with salvage titles. I live in TX, and the bike has a Louisiana salvage title. I have not bought anything yet, I am just exploring options.

Be careful ,,, check with your DMV first on how they treat that tile. It may not be a registerable vehicle in Texas. You may also have trouble selling it once you own it,

oldnewby, I will give you a brief overview on what happens in Florida. I have done this a couple of times. The latest I purchased a salvage Roadgloide out of NC. I took pictures of it before I started of the over all bike and all the areas that would need repair. I keep every receipt of the purchases of all the replacement parts including E-Bay. I had to call the DVM ans setup an appointment with an inspector who wanted to see ALL the paperwork including the title and bill of sale from NC. They made sure that the bike was not stolen and none of the parts that were used to fix it were stolen. They made sure the bike was in ridable condition and all the required DOT equipment was there and worked. They then signed off on a rebuilt title in Florida and gave it a new VIN from the state. When I sold it, the resale value was slightly less, but no trouble selling it.
