While at the MMR this past weekend a storm blew through and knocked some plastic and metal rods off the building. Guess where they landed. Yep, got the fairing, front fender, and parts of the body. Best Western wouldn't even give us the name of there insurance co. Said turn it into you insurance carrier. Painter said be about $1500-2000 to repaint the candy apple red. Probably wait till the weather turns before getting her done.
(maybe I should go with yellow..............................nawww.)

BUT...........................
I did win 1st place in the modified Custom category.
So wasn't all bad.

OUCH!!!!!
But Joe..... That's a painful way to modify your customization ;)

Seriously, congrats on winning!

CONGRATS on the Win Joe.....:wtg:...but I really hate about the damage...."always painful"....:(....coulda' swore YELLOW was faster.......!!!!!

Wow both sides of the feelings. Try writing the home office to see if they will cooperate. Congrats and Sorry

My insurance will cover it minus my deductible. Then they will go after the hotel. The other guy that had damage contacted the corporate office and they said each hotel takes care of there own insurance.
Here's what happened with my buddy.
"Tina called Best Western corp today just to be heard. Our insurance company got nowhere with them. She talked to the CEO's assistant. She talked with Tina for some time apologizing the whole time but they don't have corporate insurance. Each hotel is responsible for that. But she was taking down everything that Tina was saying and told her that it is put in that franchises file and if they receive more complaints then they would address the management at that hotel. So if you want to call David Kong, president & CEO his direct number is 623-780-6829 or his email is dkong@bestwestern.com to give your two cents. Corporate sent us a $50. gift card in hopes we will use it at another hotel. I hope your insurance company is getting a better response than mine did. Tina's main complaint was that this claim is now against us and that the manager was cold and calculating. No warmth or compassion."

$50.00 gift card wont even get you a room.

Sounds like cooperate bulls**t to me. Looks like I won't be staying at a Best Western anytime soon. Congrats on your win :D, sorry for your troubles :(. I will support you by not supporting Best Western. Have a great today.

Just notified.............................checks in the mail for a repaint from my insurance co., minus $100. deductible.

Thanks for the support.......................I would of thought BW would have stepped up.

They lost our business next year for our Midwest Motorcycle Rally............we are switching hotels. Probably 75-80 bikes.

Joe...all any Corporate Beast understands is "IMAGE"...and NOISE will always get their attention! Email the CEO and "Demand satisfaction"...they have Insurance to protect their business and the credo at each Corp HQ is "Deny any responsibility"...go ahead and let him know you're not happy with his Assistants "blowing you off" and you're confident the Small Claims Court will see things in a different light! No Corp Exec wants to send anyone to Court to defend a Small Claim...they sure as heck don't want to pay their Attornies to defend a Small Claim...it's always worth the shot...at the very least you may recover your deductibles.

Hope it doesn't and Am sure your agent will say it won't but have personally had insurance premiums raised and policies not renewed for things i was not reponsable for in the past.
Good example is my home insurance rates were doubled for a two year period because of storm/wind damage. This rate increase is honored thruout the insurance market as i found out when i tried shopping elsewhere for a better price.
Sent this e mail to Best Western---witch we have always used --we will no longer use them.
Good luck on your repair .

Just to let you know, because of the way one of our fellow members was treated by an accident at one of your franchises that we are amassing a boycott of your hotels. In fact our next rally in Midwest had 75 bike guest's planning to use Best Western --this has been cancelled.
Keep up the good work !!

Joe,

Sorry to hear about your misfortune... Persoanally and professionally, I don't believe that the courts will hold Best Western liable or neglient for your damages, should you pursue taking them to small claims court. Weather related losses are often referred to as "acts of god", although I'm not sure if I would hold God responsible either. You need to ask yourself the question what did Best Western do or failed to do to cause your loss? If you can prove that the portion of their building was in disrepair prior to the storm occurring, in that the plastic and metal rods your referred to, where a hazard, prior to the storm, then your chances of winning your case would to be greater. I'm afraid that your damages will be your $100 deductible and the inconveience that you went through. I seriously doubt that your insurance company will subrogate (collect what they paid, plus your deductible from Best Western or their insurance company). Keep us advised, okay? Good luck!!!
