S&S 557 Tri Glide Cams

Wiz....
I figured I wouldn't disturb the oil pump by leaving it in there, and I did rotate the engine before final tighteneing to make sure it operated as before..
I used the adjustable pushrods because I didn't want to remove tank, rocker boxes etc..The quikie rods from S& S came with the 557 cams as a kit..
Iv used a lot of adj pushrods in the past and have never had a problem with them in the 40yrs Iv used em.
The engine fired right up, had the usual lifter rattle for a few moments and now runs a quiet as before...
Its was around 50F when I fired it up, and it didn't idle surge as it used too..
I can definetly tell there is more potato potato out the exhaust...
Now I need your expertise Sir , to do this TTS tune for me...
I wont be able to road test tho, as believe it or not, we are getting snow tonite / 2moro...{4-8 inches } and temps only around -4 to zero Celsius for the rest of the week..Unf**kin believable!!
Do I just plug the TTS in and enter the vin # etc??
I did more firmaware updates from TTS last nite, so all should be good ta go...
Let me no Please whats next, or PM me your phone # and I will call you at a convient time for you....Thax In advance...HB

Two questions if I may...

Why did you not pull the oil pump out with the cam plate?

Why are you using adjustable push rods?

Just curious.

Nice catch, I just assumed he had already had the pump out and put it back in. I always pull my pump separate from the cam plate so I can inspect it. Leaving the pump in while pulling the cam plate only is kind of risky depending on the condition of the o-ring for the outlet of the pump, could have one that wants to sump due to the o-ring not being as pliable as a new one.

S&S 557 cams well worth it..
Mid range power is definetly a lot stronger..
A bit more tuning with the Wiz and I will be one Happy Camper

Gotter all washed up and shining waiting to go collect Bugs...LOl..TTYS..HaNkB

The 557's that I put in mine are the best thing i ever did. A friend of mine has se255's in his and the other day we were going over 100mph and ever little hill we hit he would loose 5 or so mph I would roll back to keep off his backside I had lots of power even at that speed. The power vision 5 tuner was the best money it fine tunes as you ride and can be changed as you need no need to use anyones tune. I put mine in at 1200 miles now looking at the S&S lifters like I put in my fatboy. I'm glad to head someone else had good luck with them also... :GL1800:

Im still waiting to do a good MPG check...Since the Wiz got me all tuned, I haven't bin able to get a good long ride in..Either time restraints or Very poor weather plague me..Its bin cool here, approx. 40-50f and raining cats and dogs everyday...The wknd looks promising coming up and I hope to participate in a Cancer run..
I will definetly update my findings..As far as the tune of the trike goes, Wiz is Da Man, an Im sure the Mpg will be better than it was cause it appeared on the data collected, It was wasting fuel..HaNkB.

MPG's are not what you would like but to get power you have to give something. I'm looking at around 30 or so after all is done and thats if I stay off the throttle never had anything that ran like this. I did a lot of work on my fatboy and its hard for it to catch the trike

39.74 MPG to Cdn Gallon @ 115 kph{70Mph}..
with a strong side wind from south..THX..Warmth finnaly
Ran like a Dream...
Thx again to Wiz...

onahog (and others), I have a 120r crate motor in my 2013 Trike and am getting between 34 and 35 mpg. Since this is my first trike experience, I guess I am doing OK!
