Note! There are three areas that one has to deal with when building a hitch carrier on the rear of the RSV with a Hannigan Kit...
One being the size and type of container of course, and the other two are how close and how high it can be placed in order to prevent the rear trike door from hitting the container. I want and need access to the trunk of the trike..I also want the unit to be as close to the body as reasonable (less over hang).

After some searching the following pictures show the carrier I found that will work for me. Its light in weight, large enough for our needs, water proof, lockable, and it has build in tie downs on the side so it can be secured to the platform with ease.(not shown in the photos).. The color of course is questionable I feel like I just stepped into the motor pool after being drafted way back when, but it does some what go the trike coloring, well at least some what, of course that can be changed.

I'm building the carrier from 1 1/4" steel square stock, that is the same size material as the hitch ball insert. I'm told by a couple of local welding shops that that would be more that adequate to do the job. I'm sure the one Leo has (he is also a RSV owner and member) is of the same material..

I'm thinking of leaving the insert that goes into the receiver a little long to accommodate two pin hole settings, one being further back that way I have options ( being able to more the carrier back further if need be ) and the other, I can also shorten the door chain to shorten its arc..

Okay before I ignite the torch and going beyond the point of no return I'm open for perhaps better ideas or comments..

For those interested here a few photos of the finished hitch carrier... Still however playing with idea of painting the container..
