Road Zeppelin Seat, Khrrome Werks 2+2 Bars and Papa Zook's Rake Kit - New Tri

Hey All-

I recently purchased a 2021 Tri-Glide, and while it's still at my local dealer, I'm looking to make some modifications before I even ride it home this spring.

Thanks to finding this forum, I've come across some excellent insights, which I appreciate!

That said, I found out quickly just putzing around in the showroom back and forth that my shoulders were hurting already. So, my upgrade list includes adding the Khrome Werks 2+2 bars (when I closed my eyes sitting in the saddle and put my hands where they would be comfortable, they were positioned 2" up and 2" back... imagine!)

While that alone will most definitely help by keeping my arm/shoulders from full extension on turns (therefore, less achy I would hope), the positive feedback on adding Papa Zook's rake kit sounds like a definite no-brainer. I will be checking in with my dealer tomorrow to see about installing a set of his tree's as well, fingers crossed it won't mess with my warranty. They already committed to the bars, I can't see how the swapping out the tree would be any different.

Lastly... the Road Zeppelin seat. I owned one on my 99' Ultra and it was the best seat I've ever ridden on. I did 750 miles in one day getting a jump start on a trip to Lake Louise and not an ache at all. That with the backrest was the perfect combo... I'm 5'10" and I had to deflate it at stop signs or in local traffic, but I don't have to worry about planting my feet on the ground at stops any more!

However, since the seat is about an inch higher than stock, I'm looking to see if any of you Tri-Glider's are using the combo of the 2+2 and the Road Zeppelin, and if so, your thoughts regarding essentially loosing an inch of height on the 2+2's versus the added comfort of the Zeppelin seat.

Many thanks in advance!

Ron, we had RZ seat on our 15, you definitely sit a lot higher, we had to go to a 12" windscreen to keep the Misses from getting blown off the back. With that 12" one, I had to look through the windshield. I did have the HD 2" pullback bars put on cause I'm only 5' 8". Both of us are sorta gym rats, so I didn't feel the need for the rake kit.

Hey Gary, thanks for your reply. Question(s)... how was the stock windshield for you, comfort/buffeting wise? I looked through my 99' Ultra's windshield, so I'm kind of used to that. I'm actually looking forward to trying a batwing with the splitstream vent. I caught a decent amount of turbulence (ie. rain under my visor) with that older style batwing.

I understand the buffeting issue on the passenger if it's too low/seat too high. Did your 15' have the batwing with the splitstream vent?

Stock shield was fine for me, when it rained was the only time I closed the fairing vent. With it open it cut down on the buffeting a lot. With our 21 I had the closeable vent installed since HD did away with it on the newer models, we get caught in the rain a lot down here in the summertime. If you want the closable vent, part #29200003 from the 2014-2019 models.

Ron, welcome to Triketalk.

I ride a 2010 with the RZ seat and 2 + 2 bars and DK lift kit (that raises seat height about 1").

I use a 10" recurve shield in the Summer and a 12" recurve in the Winter. I'm 5'8". Comfortable for me.
