Road Smith EBC Pads

Apples to Oranges ' I have them on my 11T/G EBC Double H, Put them on around 11k after going though 2 sets of Harley pads.. still stopping at almost 27k...

I read the only down side is a little more wear on the rotors, but if the rotors are robust, that would be a minor down side compared to greater stopping power.

My buddy and I both installed the EBC Yellowstuff pads and feel we gained 30% more stopping power after break-in. At first they were grabby until they completed seated and now are very smooth, non-grabby, and a definite improvement. I really don't care if they wear the rotors out sooner. By then I'll probably be buying another trike.

Just my two cents from a Champion owner. I changed out the stock pads (made by Pagid) for EBC Yellowstuff. Bike stops much better. On the Champion, it was an easy install.

On the Roadsmith I didn't even have to pull wheel. Could reach in behind wheel and exchange pads with little trouble.[/QUOTE

That's good news, could you do a short walk through on that?

OOPS! My bad. Did have to pull the wheel off and then it was easy. (Thinking about different bike) Anyway, still not difficult and can be done easily in under 30 minutes.

I've had them on since Feb. 1, for a total of 12.6K miles, and they are still doing very well. Since there is an unknown on how long they will last, I'm going to have them checked on Monday when trike is in shop for new front rubber. They are well worth the $$$$$$$$$$$, just my 2 cents worth.

OK, thanks for the clarification. I couldn't figure it out.

Good, I'll be making the change soon, give a post when you get yours checked. If you don't mind my asking, yours were how many $$$$?

The folks at the Trike Shop (Roadsmith) sent me a set of EBC DP105-OE pads. These might be a tad hard to find in the US based on my preliminary search. I asked them to tell me what the original application was for plus where to source rotors, if they are needed. The EBC box says Alfa Spider/ Montreal, BMW 5 series (E12), VW Beetle / Karman Ghia and Porsche 912 (65-70).

Stopping power with EBC pads is much better than whatever the originals were. I have a HT1500 conversion on a 97 GL1500A. Since I am using the rear brakes now much more than previously, I suspect I will need to buy new pads at some point. It would also be good to know pad thickness spec, rotor thickness spec, etc. This stuff will eventually become an issue. It will be a couple weeks before I can post a follow-up as the tech guy I am dealing with is out... Sturgis.
