I am having a slight issue with the reverse button. Sometimes it takes more than a few pushes on the button to get it to release. Has anyone else had a similar issue? If so, what was the solution and is it something that I can fix myself?

My GL1800 is still under extended warranty and I had the right hand switchgear replaced... over 2 hours labor (ouch). This problem is fairly common. There is a tutorial on the GL1800riders.com forum telling how to fix the issue without removing the switchgear from the harness. Mine wouldn't stay depressed and this isn't as common an issue as the one you are having.

Harry, Get some tuner cleaner from Radio Shack and spray it inside the housing where the reverse button is. Then press the button over and over again until it feels free. I usually follow this up with some silicon spray as well. The buttons on the GL1800 are known for getting stuck after awhile. This procedure works for me. ;)

I've had this issue with Reverse, Mute and Cruise Control on the GWs. I open the housing and clean out the old grease on these mechanical parts inside. Then I apply a good lubricant. CRC has a spray White Lithium Grease that works well for me.

Option 2..... On the Road you can stop at a gun shop and buy "Break Free"
It has a straw attached to the can. You can spray it thru the cracks near the switch. Break Free has about 20 different lubricants in it and it "Migrates" into places difficult to get to. If it doesn't come free immediately, wait a day or so & viola, all of a sudden the switch works. It's great for guns too!
