Thought I would ask for the collective wisdom of those that have changed the origianl H-D battery as to what what is recommended? TIA for any and all advice. My 2019 has the original battery that is getting tired despite using a Battery Tender.

Read in another similar thread that many suggest the Deka brand. ETX-30L might be what I am searching for but still open to opinions and suggestions. Thank you.

Your current battery is 6 years old. If it is just getting tired now, I would consider the same battery.

Still have the factory battery in my 2020 UL and always plugged in to battery tender. Whenever I replace it, will be with a YUASA GYZ32HL. It’s 500 CCA’s versus the HD battery of 400 CCA’s. My engine builder friend recommends them, especially with the big bore and strokers.
Having read and considered everyone's response/reply, I want to once again thank y'all. (Southern sort of hospitality thing). I did in fact take HDUSA1's information and ordered the YUASA GYZ32HL from PartsGiant.com $185 with free shipping. FedEx states the battery will arrive today from a distribution site in Flat Rock NC (if Tom Hanks is not onboard that particular flight..see "Cast Away"). Owners Manual has clear instructions for removal and replacement. Stay tuned for more!

Thank you for the update and looking forward to your thoughts after install. I’ve always had good luck with them in my Victory motorcycles with big bore kits and high compression pistons. Plus I like that they are made in the USA!

Maybe the mechanics out there can shed some better light than me. I would buy what Harley recommends. I do know a “thrifty” rider who had a long road trip planned and bought a battery from Wally World (not OEM) specs but he saved money until he got just passed the Texas line and the battery left him dead on the side of the road. Luckily his riding group saved his bacon. Sometimes buying cheap doesn’t always work. If the manufacturer says the part had to meet certain specs you -probably ought to listen.

Battery installed today. No issues other than when I attempted to remove the original battery. The "strap" per Owners Manual not found until I McGiver'ed a hand strap from a Dowco all weather bag...drilled two holes in the reinforced areas...drill bit large enough for battery terminal screws to fit through....screwed them into repective terminals...and easily lifted the battery out. YUASA battery has finger holds built in. Said H-D strap found on bottom of battery tray...attempted several times to coax it into staying on top of new battery to no avail. I should have used a cable tie to secure it but ...I have the Dowco strap if/when this procedure needs to be done again....in this lifetime...questionable. Plugged in Battery Tender....topped off for couple hours and trike started immediately!! Will consider attaching a pic of the Dowco strap...the hero of the whole process. Thank you everyone.

I do think that it was probably a fluke that your buddies new battery failed on it’s first trip out. That being said … some parts imho should be OEM HD and the slightly higher cost of their battery is really minimal and always worth it to me.

I agree. Myself, I almost always use an OEM battery and oil filters. YUASA obviously didn’t come OEM in a Harley, but YUASA supplies powersports batteries to more OEM’s than all their competitors combined in the US and Globally. They were factory in my Victory & Honda motorcycles, Polaris & Can Am UTV’s, Honda ATV’s, etc. I would ONLY put either an HD or YUASA battery in my Harley. Given that, the YUASA has more CCA’s than the HD battery and is what’s going in next, especially after reading SouthportFLRT’s review!
