I am going to replace the 4 year old battery in my 2015 Freewheeler before an upcoming trip just as a precaution. Whenever the bike is parked in the garage it is on a battery tender but it has always been my practice to replace a battery when it is 4 years old. I did a search and found a couple of threads for batteries and saw Big Crank, Odyssey and Banshee batteries mentioned. I replaced one in my 2005 Electraglide CVO with a Deka battery.

Who has replaced their FW battery and what did you buy?

Thanks,

Sunman

With my 2011 Tri-Glide i used the big crank From Battery Mart, Through Amazon..

There are only a few companies that actually manufacture batteries. East Penn makes a lot of batteries and private labels them - Deka and Big Crank. As far as I know they still make the OEM batteries for Harley and sold by Harley dealers.

I've bought the Big Crank battery from batterymart.com and been well pleased with it.

Sunman, how did the Deka battery you used in your CVO perform?

I never had a problem with it. It was still in the bike when I traded it in. I believe it was about 3 years old then. I always keep a battery tender hooked up when my bike is in the garage.

I am going to throw another hat in the ring for replacement batteries for the FW, & this applies the Tri-Glides also.

Lowe's sells a Deka AGM battery, made by East Penn, the same U.S. company that makes the HD OEM battery & the Big Crank battery.

400 CCA & comes fully charged for $106. You order online & they ship it free to your nearest Lowe's.

And Vets get a 10% discount. Here's a link:
